Surprising number of new players on Whitemane

Pleases me to see new characters in BG’s and even in the starting zone. In before “Dead game”

They just have to wait till they get graveyard camped in burning step or Silithus lol then whitemane pop will be back to “normal”

Eh I just hit 60 on WM a couple days ago and for the most part, horde were pretty chill.

But yeah, far from a dead game. Early game and late game is super populated, with midgame stagnating quite a bit.

Made a char on the cluster again to check prices out and activity. The first second I join LFG it’s filled with GDKP, WTS WTS WTS of everything and anything even mage water.

The people who say you can make tons of gold are probably from this cluster as you can be a basic gatherer and make bank compared to the mankrik cluster if you make it past the teleporting bots. Other ways is just making orb/rune runs.

But finding a group let alone tanks/healers that wont charge you for their time and service would be the assumption unless its a RR orb/rune run. Which makes it difficult for newcomers to fresh start on this cluster aside from the PvP dangers. A good guild can make up for this but with the majority of guilds that I saw being GDKP guilds it doesn’t look too good.

The main attraction to this cluster just seems to be the world PvP and speedrun raid scene. The rest is pretty much barren.

A new guy can come to whitemane though, buy a char gold cap and boost to 60 then GDKP some ONY/ZG/AQ20 and get decked a bit then buy more gold and deck himself out in BWL/MC, process repeats. I’ll stand firm and belief this is what happens based on the transaction histories on gold sites and gold pots compared to other realms.

The one’s who nay say and believe no one buys gold to do this and just GDKPs for their gold is a flat liar. Sure they themselves don’t and havent bought gold and have naxx bis but who’s to say another guy next to him in naxx bis hasn’t bought any amount of gold to obtain anything?

The amount of selling going on in LFG says enough as it is.

I have 6 60s on Whitemane. I’ve never bought gold. I also never have any trouble finding a group. Yes, the LFG is full of GDKP and boost advertisements, I ignore that stuff. There are also some good SR guilds/discords to join. The game is going to be what you make it, and that’s the good part. People are free to play their own way.

So you think the inflation is due to every new 60 spending $1500 and has nothing to do with the fact the server has been running for 5 years? Must be why millennials can’t afford homes. They’re spending all their money on WoW gold. Better let the economists know.

What other people do isn’t my problem. Where gold comes from isn’t my business. I’m not going to focus on that because I have no power over it. That’s a problem for Blizzard to solve. If you want to ruin the game for yourself have at it. But I see gold buyers as chumps. They’re cheating nobody but themselves out of their own experience and it’s just pathetic and sad.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone claim that “no one buys gold.” What people seem to say is more like, “you do not have to buy gold,” which is quite a different thing.

Can someone pay money, buy gold, items, boosts, characters, gear, friends, help, etc.? Sure.

Does one have to in order to enjoy the game? Enjoyment is subjective. If you do, then that’s you.

I haven’t been playing Classic Era, so I can’t speak to my own recent personal experience, but it is noteworthy that anybody can form their own group, guild, discord, etc. and create whatever community culture they would like.

Not only do you not have to buy gold to enjoy the game but actually playing the game and earning everything you have is the optimal means to achieve maximum fun and satisfaction.

Imagine paying more money for gold so you don’t have to play a game you’re already paying money to play. It’s completely asinine.

Did I say gold buyers cause inflation? Single out anything in my post but I did not say inflation on whitemane was caused by gold buyers. I know bots and longevity of the server is the cause of inflation man…

The age old statement told to people with issues of grouping in this and other versions is getting old here.

GDKPs have infested every corner of grouping for whitemane. The need for gold is immense. To the extent people are requesting gold for making mage water or services doing quests, dungeons.

Sure I could form my own guild, service my own discord and community inside this but all that’ll do is be a small bubble in a huge ocean of “WTS WTS WTS GDKP GDKP GDKP” membership and attendance for regular raids would stagnant with active raids that will give you gold to come being spammed all over.

Granted anyone new to GDKPs or dont do them often will not get gear or drops in general because unless they bid on 1 item or promise to they wont get invited unless they are already geared and just there for carrying.

  1. Carry
  2. Raider that bids
  3. Buyers

These 3 things is what defines GDKP. To be classed as a carry you need to have the gear of the attending raid already or geared enough to perform past the other members. So regular people looking to get a quick bit of gold will be sore they can’t get in due to this classification.

So good luck telling me or anyone else to form their own group when it’ll just get overshadowed by the GDKP spam and mentality. Which is slowly entering and infecting Mankrik cluster with a few people that transferred over from whitemane cluster and are actively trying to inject GDKP into people with promise of BiS and becoming rich or fun if there is any to be had.

This has always been the case in WoW Classic, but there have also always been some mages who didn’t mind. And typically, I think it was like 1g for a couple of stacks of water at max level back in 2019.

OK. Then carry on complaining while doing nothing. I mean, I get where you’re coming from, but that’s just you complaining that you don’t like the way things are and you want other people to do something about it.

Thats just the way things are, you cant expect me to the hero of this story. People tend to flock to an idea more easily when they see other groups also doing it just like with the DD fresh project. It started out as a small group and expanded when others caught onto the hype.

There really isn’t a hype to abolish GDKPs on whitemane and I wont be the laughing stock of the cluster by starting a movement against it when everyone the damn server seems to be brainwashed by it.

I don’t. You’re complaining and badmouthing systems that people enjoy as if you’re going to get support in doing so. Dude, you’re just being a wet blanket and saying bad things about people enjoying playing the game the way they want.

If you said something along the lines of,

“Here’s how I want to play. Here’s how I went about trying to play this way or find other people to play this way, and here’s how it went. I’d love some help finding groups of others who enjoy playing the way I want to play, but keep in mind I don’t want to form my own communities or contribute to building them at all; I just want to join in ones that are already formed just the way I like them.”

You might get a different response, and some links to discord groups, guilds, whatever that might focus on those things.

Of course not. It’s a fabulous system that people greatly enjoy. If you don’t like it, then don’t join raids that use it, but coming to the forums complaining that it exists is just signaling, “Hey guys, I don’t like what you like.” That’s fine. Go do something else then.

:woman_shrugging:

Seemed implied to me by saying the gold pots were higher. Guess that wasn’t really what you were getting at. Doesn’t matter much. My point is if you want to focus on the dumb crap other people are doing it’ll ruin your fun.

There are plenty of LC and SR guilds around. People GDKP because it is pug friendly and people with gear need a reason to show up.

Thats like saying dont join 95% of the raids/groups… yea thanks.

Sure. It’s not quite like saying, “If you’re complaining that Classic Era doesn’t have RDF, don’t play it.” But it’s also not all that far off.

You could do something, but you seem to prefer to complain and expect others to do things for you, so basically you you’re out of luck unless you find people who care about your opinion or who will do things to cater to your preferences. It’s an interesting strategy, but not one I find to be respectable.

:woman_shrugging:

Making things known isnt respectable? Gosh…

Do you feel gold buying didn’t have an impact on Era inflation?
