Surprise! WoW Isn't Dead

Is that a new way of saying I surrender or I got nothing?

I have only an impasse to give you.

Sugar coating the bad news doesn’t change the fact that they have to report the bad news. Again, I quoted the 2015 report above which was a moment when Blizzard announced that there was a drop in player numbers of just under 2 million. There have been other moments as well just like that one, where they’ve had to announce a drop in MAUs for Blizzard etc.

When the news is bad, it must be told to shareholders.

Generally speaking, when it comes to reporting things like player engagement and MAUs, they go from quarter to quarter. So when they say “Player engagement remains high” then what they’re saying is “We haven’t seen a drop in player engagement since the last quarter.” The same goes for new players, when an announcement in a quarterly report is saying “Amount of new players is rising.” then that means it is rising beyond what was seen in the previous quarter.

impasse

/amˈpɑːs,ˈampɑːs/

noun

  1. a situation in which no progress is possible, especially because of disagreement; a deadlock.

What you are implying is a company lying on federal documents. This is not an impasse.

This is just false information.

Hey, impasse.

I was wrong. You’ve got less then nothing.

Sorry. Impasse.

A problem that doesn’t work for long with normal demand. People don’t buy from scalpers when you can get consoles legitimately and they can’t afford to buy more if the ones they have don’t sell.

Under normal circumstances, the scalpers cut their losses as soon as the holidays are over. By now everyone who wanted one would have one. They’re still sold out EVERYWHERE.

Untrue.

I have two bottles of conditioner in the bathroom that both claim to be number one.
Clearly both cannot be true.
This is not false advertising.

And one of my statements in a vacuum without context is an inaccurate representation of the argument being made. I am trying to explore the viewpoint that corporations have many people with big degrees who specialize in misinformation, lying without breaking the law, and saying things without saying them. These are the Public Relations, Marketing, and Legal departments, and I am willing to bet any money that they each had a hand at one point or another in strongly guiding the narrative of this report.

An impasse would imply that you had a valid counter argument to the OP.

Well he kinda bowed out so, impasse.

By chance do you play FFXIV?

Not these days.

An impasse requires you to provide evidence of what you are claiming.

You have none.

Neither does the OP.

Or any of you, which I’m sure you would’ve dredged up by now.

It’s a press release. Press releases are often very much about telling select bits of the truth, often outside important contextualizing information, and linking operationally unrelated bits of the truth together through vague or obfuscatory language to paint rosier pictures and attempt to respond to criticisms that cannot be met head-on.

Same goes for earnings report summaries and a variety of other high-level descriptions of business and events.

wow was never dead.

People that say wow is dead want it to die because this game is showing them their skill level and they don’t like it

He literally has a federal mandated document that needs to be provided by law, quarterly.

You seriously can’t be this dumb
