The pre-made group finder, which is very different than the automated dungeon finder, is probably the best feature added to WoW in the last decade.
Many/most people not playing retail (including myself) are not playing it for many varied reasons, but hardly ever because the pre-made group finder exists.
The actual reasons people don’t like retail tend to be:
Class Design
Titanforging
Item progression or item design in general
Endless grind systems like azerite
Right, this is not LFD that was added in Wrath. This is more akin to the LFG tool that is in the game now that was received positively aside from possibly the “auto” part of it. People loved Oqueue, most people hate spamming trade…
Well technically there is a disconnect, but they do the exact same thing. Whats wrong with standing around looking for adventurers. Would give meaning to the NPC taverns as places for people that want to group for quests and dungeons. Feature creep buddy, feature creep. Whats next?
I’ll try to have a proper argumentation you are right…
I’im totally fine with the chat filtering part it doesn’t hurt anyone or the game experience.
But i think that, this part (addon description) :
Creating Groups
Groups created using ClassicLFG are visible to all players using it on the Realm.
Is bad for the game experience. It mean you can litteraly see the LFG list at anytime and everywhere.
This is a real advantage over the other players
It make the LFG easier, meaning that players will be more impatient and demanding. Because they can instantly and easily find an another group, players won’t be inclined to help a new players in dungeon, leave when the group wipe etc…
While in Vanilla, because LFG was harder, every type of players were trying to be nice to each other because, leaving the group to search a beter one made them waste THEIR time too.
this is one of those things that if you support you might as well just stick with bfa
and doesn’t matter if it was in development for MONTHS it breaks the game
Blizzard ALREADY had a global chat channel that did the same thing, just no one used it /4 or LFG was in the game in vanilla for a very long time, but few people knew it was there.
why is this bad ? Why is anything that promotes grouping up and promotes working with strangers a bad thing.
Your next paragraph after this quote is nonsensical. LFG channel or spamming trade or using an addon like this is all the same.
I understand your point. Do you understand mine? My point is that every time we try to make the game easier or more convenient we take away from the original experience. We start on to the path that many of us do not like wow for. I quit playing wow because of these reasons. I came back only for classic. Now I feel like I just want to leave again. I really wish you could see my point of view. If your goal is to “speed up” the process of getting groups then in my opinion you are trying to rush the game. I understand that is the modern mentality of gamers. rush here, do this, micromanage, speed runs through dungeons, so and so forth. If this is going to be the way classic is then I am going to just unsub. again.
Not that i care either way but I have done alot of reading on classic and I thought i read that blizzard wasn’t going to allow any mods that break the classic feel when it goes live specifically LFG mods.
So you don’t think class design, quests, progression systems, current dungeons/raids, profession design etc might be what more people focus on when deciding which version of the game to play? It’s whether or not you can see a bulletin board of pugs?
If you haven’t played since Wrath you may be confusing the automated dungeon finder with the pre-made group finder which are completely different systems.
The pre-made group finder or addons like this addon do not just stick you together with randoms automatically, it’s just an evolved form of chat spam where instead of having to look at a chat channel, you can look a UI that shows you what groups are forming and you can then whisper them and then they can choose to invite you or not.
