Pitchforks and torches!

They need to break all add-on functionality for the first year of classic if they truly want this to be a classic experience.

Addons were around the entirety of vanilla.

I don’t understand why people want to play Classic if they want all these modern, ease-of-use and QoL tools and features. Blizzard should really ban some of these things. Ideally, I would want them to make it painstakingly clear that if certain features are desired by some, those people should be referred to Retail.

I wish it was more simple, but there are so many who use (and abuse) addons that it’s become so hard to get around. I personally hate addons for the most part, and I don’t plan to use any unless it becomes absolutely necessary.

I hope that Blizz stands by Ion’s statement and breaks any addons such as this. Part of Classic (for me) is using chat to find groups.

Show me on the doll where the bad addon touched you.

He says they’re thinking about it essentially but does in fact not say for sure that they would.

Addon communication channels have worked in beta up until the re-opened and now re-closed beta just this week. It’s perfectly possible they’d break them at the last minute, but you’d just be causing pointless harm to cater to fear mongers who think a LFG GUI will destroy the game.

Vanilla had access to more powerful tools in many ways compared to what we have now.

Class design, profession design, current dungeons and raids, item design etc are all vastly different from Classic to Retail. Not everyone is interested in Classic for the exact same reasons.

How about because Vanilla wasn’t about standing in IF spamming trade or general that you needed 1 more for your strat ud run? If it doesn’t make the group for you, and doesn’t transport you to the dungeon, then get over it.

im confused. are we being forced to download this?

If you don’t like it don’t use it.

People keep telling me about how classic was so great because it was all about choice, stop trying to take it away.

No sir, you have to spam a chat channel for 30 minutes to find that last group member, that’s what Vanilla WoW was all about!!! We’ll just ignore the actual game play…

You are part of the problem. People with the “just in case” mentality are the majority. But there is still hope, uninstall and be redeemed!

Amen Fam, Can’t wait to use my PvP scanner addons to know enemy locations + alerts. :orange_heart:

BTW thanks for posting the name of the addon I’ll be sure to look for it.

Naw,

I hated that. People in trade/LFG would say i’m bad or a ninja (i did it TWICE, my bad im only HUMAN). Group finder addons be nice to avoid people trolling me calling me in public channels.

So what’s the point? The point is to make the experience as close to the way people remember it, that’s why people even want it. Knowing I could, more or less, do almost as much in Classic as I currently can in Retail (with QoL tools, addons, etc.), would break the whole experience for me, and I would not play it. Even if it was just others doing it and not me, it would destroy the experience, because I want others to be playing the same game I’m playing, so we can recreate something from the past.

In the video posted Ion talks about how if too much was allowed it wouldn’t matter if people avoided it, it’d bleed into the fabric of everything, and it would shape it (you’d have an ugly hybrid of Retail and Classic) – I hope Blizzard brings full force to stomp out any attempts to alter and/or influence the outcome of the intended product.

Maybe we should let classic launch without all these handholding add ons. We have not even played it at launch yet and people want retail features. Sad Panda…

Primitive ones… nothing like today.

Naw, everyone is on equal playing field no one is forcing you to install the addons.

If I can do anything to make Classic similar to BFA i’m going to do that. That’s the type of environment I excel in.

Addons like Quest-Helper, Dungeon Finder, and PvP scanner addons just provide you with information. and information never has harmed anyone.

Addons are a tool used to seperate the “good players” from the “great players”. :orange_heart:

I played WoW since open beta, classic will be nothing like my original experience for many reasons, including that they’re starting at 1.12.

Some people are playing it who never played vanilla who are actually interested in something that is completely new to them.

Addons do not remotely make Classic a retail-like experience in a very long list of ways.

You can’t group with people from other servers, which by itself changes a lot of experiences from questing to dungeons to raids.

Again, the very basic aspects of the game like class design are so vastly different that no addon can change.

A lot of small mechanics are also different IE: if you walk into water on a mount, it dismounts you in classic and mounting speed is a 3 second cast vs. 1.5 on retail. The level you get mounts is also substantially different. Hearthstone cooldowns, portals, FP whistles etc. make world travel completely different.

I don’t want to play the game with the same UI you do and I didn’t have to in vanilla either. All the game mechanics are the same though no matter what our UI looks like.

Classic has a long list of things that are not the same as vanilla even without addons playing a role.
