In this thread we will pretend the evoker support talent spec is confirmed and it’s a new “support” role. (So no debating about if it’s real or fake)
What other classes could fill the support role with a new or revised talent tree.

A warrior would be fun.
Shouting orders/commands, placing war banners, I guess either arms or fury could be changed to suit but adding a 4th spec would probably be better received lol

Shaman would be obvious, buff groups with totems, weapon embues, etc

Anything really, just need to get creative.
A hunter could have more support buttons.
- Your pet absorbs critical strikes of a near by teammate.
- Pet uses fear on an enemy.
- Boosts DPS with a roar or something.
- Pet comforts an ally, restoring x% mana
Having such abilities is cool but for support to be a whole spec… Is a little too far, in my book anyway.
I always fantasized about some weird DK support spec that could only “heal” dead things.
So it would have to let allies die first. Then rez them as undead, and THEN its spells would work on them. Then there’d be some sort of mechanic where they would over-heal you enough to get you back to full living. Then you’d have to die again before it could heal you again.

Maybe warlocks could use blood magic to boost and amplify allies combat abilities.
Healers should be acting as supports already. Too many just want to stand there and spam inefficient heals.

I’ve been calling for Shieldbearers forever now, Dual wielding shields, becoming an unstoppable Pain Train of steel and iron, shield slamming your enemies their great grand children will remember to fear you, how can we not have them yet?

Back in WoD, the Alliance Garrison’s Gladiator Sanctum had a Draenei quest giver who duel wielded bladed shields.
One of the coolest fury warrior npc to date.

For real though, i don’t think support will be a role, but if the datamined text means what we all think it means and evoker is getting another spec that can “boost” i’m guessing it will be a dps spec that provides buffs to other players. It will have low personal damage, but the buffs will compensate. Somewhat like Dancer from FF14.

Wowhead is focusing on a single word of placeholder text way to intensely, but that word is not even by itself; it is part of “boost/heal” referring to the Preservation specialization whereas the other part of that placeholder text refers to the Devastation specialization.
That doesn’t mean a “support” role (or more likely a ranged damage dealer in the vein of Final Fantasy XIV’s Dancer job) couldn’t be added to Evoker, but with the precedent of two dragonflights’ magics primarily used for each specialization (Blue and Red for Devastation and Green and Bronze for Preservation) leads me to believe a Black and Twilight/Void tank or damage dealer (melee or ranged) specialization long before anything else, especially a “support” one.
