So I’m trying to get the Plans: Heavy Copper Longsword. I know that it used to be offered by Tormus Deepforge during the quest Supplying the Front and your character had to be at least level 5 and have leveled Blacksmithing to 30.
My character is a level 6, with 50 levels in BS and the quest does not trigger. My main is a 120 with maxed BS through WoD and I STILL can’t get the quest to trigger.
Is this quest simply broken now, or have I missed something in getting it to trigger?
Based on wowhead comments, the quest was working at the start of Legion, it is possible that the profession changes in BfA broke the quest. Might want to submit a bug report.
Its possible you completed it on you main before and lost the pattern. I recently did this quest and can confirm that it’s there and works. I didn’t have any alliance characters on my realm so what I did was make an allied race, so lvl 20, raised bs to around 60 and the quest popped up for me. So you might just have to have higher bs or a higher leveled toon. Hope this helps.
Agree with you on having already completed the quest chain, but it sounds like he was attempting to complete the quest on a fresh level 6 alt.
I just started and completed this quest chain last month, at about lvl 45, so it was working then. I’m at 113/300 in classic Blacksmithing.
Yes, I noticed that I don’t (or didn’t at the time) have this recipe on my main, with I’ve had for years and have his BS maxed through WoD. Nothing I did would trigger the quest. So I rolled an alt thinking I’d simply get the recipe that way and forward it to my main. However none of my alts (on the same server) could trigger the quest either. Even when I leveled them to level 10 - 12 and pushed their BS skills to around 50.
So I went to a new server and did the same thing: new toon, level to 10 - 12 and BS to around level 50. Bingo! There is the quest. I ask customer service to help with this as it obviously has something to do with my acct as it is associated with my home server (MoonGuard) and they were 100% useless. Basically telling me I must not be doing the quest correctly somehow.
Finally I had my GF use her acct to create an alt, level BS and get me the pattern. Blizz Cust Srvc suggested (paraphrase) “why not just buy it off the AH?” Because such things tend to sell of 1000’s of gold on my server and I’ve seen that recipe at 200K at one point recently. This is supposed to be a legit response from Cust Srvc?
Wowhead says it requires level 10, and I’ve done this one recently.
Yep, did it several times on alts from other servers, and toons on other accts, which is why I’ve repeatedly told Blizz Cust Srvc that it is a broken quest on my acct. The quest isn’t broken, it is somehow broken in the way it is interacting with my characters on the the MoonGuard server. Otherwise the quest seems to be working fine.
