Super Rare loot does not feel great…

Why not both?

Yeah, I still run LFR every week until I get that ring. Even the LFR version is a large upgrade. Thankfully we will start doing mythic this week and I heard the first bosses are really easy. So I will have yet another chance to not get it

So rare I has both :rofl::rofl:.

Well, one thing I didn’t like about dinars was how you could buy loot from bosses you haven’t even killed.

Seemed weird. But maybe that’s just me.

People are getting drops from weekly event caches from bosses they haven’t killed, so…

Yeah, also not a fan of that. Nor how weekly vault can give tier pieces (but not other drops) from bosses you haven’t killed.

It absolutely does when you finally get it. Much more so than if it was trivial to get.

Imagine how anemic and dry life would be if you only ever pursued endeavors that were 100% deterministic and guaranteed to achieve the desired result. That would be no life for me, anyway.

Keep in mind that game developers always have to tread that line between just giving everybody what they want as soon as they want it (insert “I win” button joke here), and making you play a lot to “earn” something.

Also, slot-machines are extremely popular.

I disagree completely. I have the Eranog ring, my other main has both the Eranog ring and the Icon trinket.

I’m still super frustrated that my friends don’t have them, though. It’s also dumb that we go back and kill exactly 3 bosses (Eranog - Council - Broodkeeper) every week on Heroic just for another shot at ring/trinket/ring.

Agreed. Getting rid of as much rng in the loot system would be the best thing that’s ever happened to wow.

SL S4 was amazing in so many ways because it helped combat against rng.

Deterministic loot systems don’t retain players as well. The developers are not amateurs, regardless of what some forum posting critics believe.

To tons of people - it doesn’t.

It feels like “its about time” or “i hope it never takes this long again” or "crap, so we have to farm and grind for that long again just so that someone else gets the items? "

I’ve gotten really lucky on 2 characters this expansion and it never felt good because it was luck based - as in the kind of luck where you dodge a bullet.

I don’t want a deterministic system. I want raids to drop 2 items per 5 people, like dungeons do.

Well, that goes back to the part of my post you snipped in your quote.

“Keep in mind that game developers always have to tread that line between just giving everybody what they want as soon as they want it (insert “I win” button joke here), and making you play a lot to “earn” something.”

This is where they believe the balance should be. You disagree, which is fine.

Amen brother.

And rng violates that idea of “earning”. A deterministic system also doesn’t give people what they want when they want it - in fact a deterministic loot system allows everyone to earn it fairly in proportion to some kind of work rather than luck.

The issue is that devs don’t make content enticing enough to continue playing when there’s plenty of opportunity for that.

Why do you keep quoting and responding to my posts? I am responding to Brewa who says they don’t want a deterministic system.

I have never once responded or replied to anything you have posted, yet you seem to feel that I am having some argument with you.

You can still have RNG in a deterministic loot system.

When you get your loot currency - just roll a d100 each week. Only when you roll a 100 do you get to use the currency.

Everyone wins - you get to still roll dice for loot and everyone else can earn their great equally and fairly.

Silly.

The only difference I’m really seeing with the “rare” loot is it being shown like that in the DG and has an item level more reflective of its power.

Items like this have existed for a long time.

Heck, we just got done with Gavel, Edge of Night, Veinripper, Font, Razercoral, etc.

I got the two rings from the “do 4 mythic dungeons” weekly that comes around once in awhile and got the trinket from doing TW. So yeah, I’ve got a 405 Seal of Filial Duty, a 408 Seal of Diurna’s Chosen and a 395 Whispering Incarnate Icon and have never stepped foot in the raid. I just do M+. RNG truly sucks.
