Super happy with SOD but please nerf racials and give horde paladins

Nerf horde OP pvp racials in particular orc stun resist and then give them paladins.

This would ensure that both factions remained relatively balanced both in terms of power but also in population as no side would have a clear advantage over the other

Cheers

Alliance racials are better for pvp in every scenario imaginable except for 1v1s (hardiness/will)

If you “nerfed” those racials alliance further pull ahead with escape artist and fear ward.

You’re nowhere near good enough at PvP for racials to be a concern.

I know how as horde you want to believe this so you can credit your victories to your “skill”, but as someone who has played both factions over many years, horde racials are clearly overpowered in PVP. While the actual racial is not necessary a massive advantage, it attracts a certain kind of player. The sweaties, try hard, neckbeards who always looks for any advantage.

These players, by their very nature, generally forgo showers, good hygiene and real life employment in order to maximize their play time. As a result, they are typically better pvpers.

When you have one faction that attracts mostly these players and then give these players an advantage, what you’ll get is an AV pug win rate of 98.7+%. The other player’s faction stopped queuing after they got the rep and items cause who enjoys losing all the time?

As a result, Horde queue times greatly increased to around 40 minutes, opening the door for alliance premades who could get instant queues. This brought a lot of interest back to PVP and a whole alliance premade community was born with 1000s of alliance pvpers organizing themselves in discord. PvP exploded, and horde queue times fell from 40 minutes to 3 minutes.

Unfortunately the horde’s win rate also fell from 98.7% to roughly 50%. Sweaties were unable to handle such losses came to these forums and spammed them for weeks demanding blizzard bring back their win rate. Blizzard eventually caved and destroyed the alliance premade community by nerfing the ability to queue together

As a result, horde queue times greatly increased to almost 1 hour cause alliance stopped playing completely. Again Horde complained to the forums. BLizzard eventually caved and gave horde the ability to fight Horde v Horde

All this said, it could have all been avoided had blizzard nerfed horde pvp racials so that no side had a clear advantage over the other. They recognized this later in WotLK and nerfed orc resist to stun reduction which I think was a very balanced change.

They should do that here and in return give horde paladins

I’d really like to see them avoid giving Horde Paladins (and vice versa, Alliance Shaman). As much as I’ve loved my Dwarf Shaman over the years, I like that this asymmetrical gameplay exists in the Vanilla game and I think it really adds to the flavour.

With that said, I absolutely do think that Shaman need a bit of a boost in order to offer commparable buffs. Extra bonus points if they could do it by finding thematic alterantives and avoiding a straight copy/paste.

As a random example that I’m making up on the spot and should not be taken too seriously, instead of just giving Shaman a copy of Blessing of Salvation so that it’s equal, maybe they get a totem that pulses on some interval and just reduces existing threat for group members in range.

The idea here being that you might have to worry about your burst threat more as horde, but your overall threat less. Whereas Alliance would have to worry about their burst threat less but their overall threat more.

Again, just a random thought, but I’m a big fan of not everything being the same.

This should have been at the start of the story. Those end of classic 5-man queue syncing AV premades were never broken. The proof is in people doing them in SoM and now doing them in Era today. The population of people queuing at that time just increased and people started base racing. I was there, doing the ally AV “turn the map blue” premades. So l remember.

Blizzard did “break” ally premades before this though:

When Blizzard broke the original AV premades (by removing the displayed number on queue pops) those better-geared/team player type allies started premading WSG. So you were left with a lot of undergeared/low level allies to compete with hungry (often geared) horde who already had 30 min AV queues. Those horde wanted to gets as much honor as they could. Thus the SHGY farm and the 31 min games.

This was an tbcc when more people did swap to horde. For arenas and PVE. There were threads all over the forums about the horde rerolls for tbcc. This is also part of what led to the the whole server mess with the 99% mega servers. That’s another topic though.

All in all, l liked your post so thank you. lt was accurate enough to remind me of the good old and very fun days of 2020.

As for SoD and pallies on horde, well SoD is already some mixed version of the game, so I wouldn’t care too much as long as horde pallies can’t transfer to Era down the line. Blizzard doesn’t seem to plan to do that though. As for racials, I agree with Lazarak, the ally ones are good in a group scenario.

I play both factions too dude. I just main horde because I prefer shaman for raiding and pvp on priests ally.

Fear ward/stone form/escape artist paired with paladins especially, are better general racials for group oriented pvp, which is the majority of pvp anyways. Hardiness is just a self racial that you can’t augment yourself. Will is the best pvp racial for horde and that’s why you saw undead on every class that could possibly be undead on the makGorah tournament.

(Will of the forsaken is basically a reliable pvp trinket, as most classes trinkets don’t break the right cc and that’s the only reason will seems so powerful)

Horde racials are just better for random engagements and 1v1s which nobody is doing anyways. You’re going to walk past that single horde character while you’re out leveling and farming anyways unless you see someone else attacking him and then you’ll jump in. Business as usual.

I can tell you don’t have much higher tier pvp experience by ignoring these racial facts.

That’s why all the best pvp guilds and pvp teams or groups are always alliance right?

Showing me AV metrics isn’t helping the cause, and ever since classic launch alliance will been the dominant faction everywhere including som. It will be the same way on sod.

Yes, sod will be alliance heavy and most of the pvp guilds are going alliance except 1 that I know of. Don’t believe me? Nobody ever did in the past (see som1) yet I was always 100% correct.

Even I am playing alliance for the racials in sod

Yes Trolls should be able to play pallies, warlocks, and druids

That’s the saddest excuse for being a bad I’ve read in some time.

how bout this, keep ya paladins and we will keep orc racials.

Why not just add in shaman and pally on both sides and leave the racials alone. Dwarf shaman and Undead Pally
