Super Guild Invite

I propose anyone who uses this AddOn in Vanilla should be permanently banned. It’s annoying enough in Retail, but without the options to stop it present, it should be treated with the same severity as gold-selling.

Being spammed with guild invitations in the middle of dungeons, raids, and so on could, potentially, cause many issues, such as blocking your view for a mechanic, a debuff watching a debuff timer, etc.

The AddOn, in Classic, at least, should be considered game-disrupting.

Everyone can just right click report the spammers and they will get silenced anyway.

But I agree, SGI needs to be perma banned.

Why does the UI not block repeat guild invites in xtimeframe?

Classic experience. Back then, you could report spammers and they’d be banned, but the current rule is to just disable guild invites which is not an option in Classic.

Considering Blizzard had to make that option DIRECTLY because of that AddOn? Yeah… abusing it in a setting where you can’t tell them to stop should just be a permaban. Period. No chance for them to test the settings, see what the magic number is. First offense for your guild - everyone who used it, instantly banned. At least from Classic. Not retail.

Didn’t they leave this option for classic though?

I don’t recall seeing it during the stress test. If it’s there, fine, but you’re still getting spammed.

Nah. If you’re in a guild you don’t get invites either. I think Elvui has it built in also?
Oh and I think some spam blocking addons have it as an option as well.

I thought i did but if this holds true then it makes sense that they would just leave this option. Like the mail. Doesn’t make sense to remove it.

Point is, abuse the system, lose the system. We want Vanilla, not current WoW.

Instead of adding protections for people who spam you with whispers, even with blocked invites, they should lose a privilege, not keep it.

I propose a modest alternative.

Just join a guild.

You remember the havoc it caused in Wrath? Yeah, no modesty. Kill it before it can lay eggs.

Small correction: it was Cataclysm that birthed SGI.

Cataclysm is when Blizzard introduced Guild Perks, including the one that skimmed a tax off of guild members’ quest rewards (I can’t remember the exact name of the perk). This led to a rush of greedy people doing their best to claim as many people as possible-- right at the point when your character first zoned in after creation, a practiced Blizzard also had to ban, making it so that guild invite spam couldn’t be sent until level 20.

You’re correct. My apologies. Regardless of such, this AddOn needs to be banned and anyone who uses it should be banned from Classic.

Also, this is Chillgrave, just on my main account (different computer logged in).

I think the fact that there’s no point in conglomerate guilds will sort of turn people away from using those sorts of addons, honestly. I’ve no doubt it’ll be there for a while near the beginning of classic launch, but aside from manually reporting the player using it, I dunno if Blizzard will step in to do anything since really, all you gotta do to stop it is join a different guild :stuck_out_tongue:

I just checked Beta and Block Guild Invites is an option in the Interface | Social settings.

Still doesn’t stop the whispers, but, eh. Got proved wrong here.

I think it was Cataclysm, not Wrath. Before that collecting guild members wasn’t a thing because there was no incentive. Cataclysm added guild levels and perks that started whole mess.

Ignore, Report, and move on. The spammers will end up banned and the people who just want to build a guild will be happy. No need to ban an addon that may help bring people together because you find it annoying.

It is the only way the old Cheerleader Guilds (up to 40 profit, as they are THE RAID TEAM, at everyone else’s expense) will survive in Classic.

Dont like getting spam guild invites? There is an option to block Guild invites in the interface.
As far as banning people that whisper you? Guess what, there is a ignore button for that as well. Good luck petitioning Blizz to ban someone for a whisper.
Cry elsewhere
