Sunny and Flurky in Classic Era?

First and foremost, thank you Blizzard for creating, and making available Sunny and Flurky for players to purchase and in so doing, support Ukraine.

Personally, I only ever play Classic Era, and whilst I’m usually one who errs on the side of “no changes” in this version of the game, I am hoping to promote some civilised and respectful discussion from fellow players as to whether they see this as an exception to the rule.

I am likely to purchase anyway, or even more likely, make a donation of the same amount to BlueCheck in any case. I’m after fellow gamer’s thoughts on this, because I would love to show my support for Ukraine in game.

Please discuss, and please respect the opinions of all who offer thoughts here.

Gamestore pets, mounts, toys, etc. don’t belong in Classic WoW. Players can freely donate to whatever cause they choose but that doesn’t make retail features appropriate for Classic.

What percentage actually gets to ukraine?

The only thing worse than adding the blizzard store to classic wow would be if the profits were diverted to corrupt Ukrainian oligarchs. Hard pass.

Likely for every 100 dollars 1 penny makes it to the destination people are told it will go. The rest is highly likely to be soaked by “administrative costs” (fuel for bobby’s yacht)

According to Blizzard, 100% of the purchase cost goes to BlueCheck. Whether or not they determine that $20 is the “purchase cost” of the pet and not something less so they can scrape off the top is another story.

You said it right here and didn’t even detect it.
How much did the digital asset actually cost VS how much cash they soaked up. So essentially they very well could be legally telling lies via misdirection.

I don’t actually know, just know its better to be skeptical of any corporation than to ever trust them; especially if they are as big as Activision and have very questionable leadership.

Hard pass.

Go to your nearest homeless shelter, veteran center, senior center, or pet rescue. School is about to begin, folks are struggling, take your local schools some supplies.

If you live in Ukraine, support your country, by all means.

I live in America, I will support Americans.

It baffles me that people donate to charities via large multinational corporations.

So Blizzard gets to donate all that money, claim the accompanying tax offsets, and then take the credit for good international citizenry - on your dollar.

Just donate directly to the source. The companies that do this, it’s nothing short of a scam in my opinion.

Boom. Roasted

Never thought of that…

There is also the technique of misrepresenting the facts…

“we donate the purchase cost”

Could be lawyer speak for the cost of production is donated… being that the “Cost” being actually talked about is actually the cost blizzard spent on purchasing the art from the artist in form of labor. That’s how sneaky these kinds of companies actually are…

That could end up being less than 1% of 1% of the donated money allowing Activision to pocket like nearly 99.9% of the take.

Exactly. I don’t dispute that there is some altruistic value but it’s naive to think it isn’t first and foremost a calculated business move. If the board of directors actually cared, they would garnish their own wages to supplement these donations, not offset the burden to the consumer.

Nothing against charity, people just need to do their research before putting their hard-earned dollar behind something.

Nailed it… There is so little good will inside a big corporation that I just straight up distrust everything they claim, say or do.

I just wanted the pets.

One (Sunny) for retail and the other (Flurky) for Wrath Reforged. Seems fair enough already.

Era doesn’t get stuff like this on the store and this to me isn’t the time to change that. Sorry OP. Hope you can enjoy the purchase in another version of the game.
