This is a thread on Sunfury Arcane, specifically looking at its mythic plus performance now that I’ve had the opportunity to test it more thoroughly in higher end keys.
Overall, the spec actually doesn’t feel too bad. It does lose out to spellslinger in terms of funnel/priority damage, overall dps and defensive talents, but does gain execute. I think people will remain spellslinger for the foreseeable future unless this tree is buffed somehow.
One thing I wanted to address with sunfury is the weirdness of Arcane soul. This is a fantastic buff to have, but it always comes in at a really weird time after your touch explodes and you still have surge for 3 seconds. I would recommend you try this out yourself; it feels really weird and clunky in keys in my opinion, namely because of this weird 3 second window after your touch when you still have surge and you’re trying hard not to lose GCDs for your soul window
One thought I had was making Arcane soul apply after touch of the magi explodes rather than after Arcane Surge expires. This way you still have some surge damage remaining for the first 3 seconds of the buff (where barrage damage is low). Even though this would also be a buff to single target, the Arcane soul window doesn’t feel very strong in single target in my opinion.
Another possibility is making nether munitions, a currently mega dead talent, apply arcane soul for, say, 6 seconds after touch explodes. This way you get 6 seconds after your minis and 13 seconds after your majors. Just a thought,
