For those that haven’t seen the blue post, our AOE talent for Sunfire is going to be locked behind taking a lot of balance talents.
Right now Sunfire is a huge portion of our AOE dmg and it will no longer be accessible without committing to a more balance oriented build if this change goes forward.
Please don’t let that go live

just tried it myself…feels horrible for resto. one of our two signature spells since forever 
anyway, why would they change that, what the heck? i sure hope the devs will playtest this…and if they do, please provide context as to what you’re going for with this change, and why this improves gameplay plz.
i like to play a more traditional catweaving style - which imo, they nailed with DF’s release. i find the ptr tree to feel a bit messy when i was choosing my talents…sunfire should be easily available for all 3 paths, as it has been for a long time imo.
this is not a minor change and will have a big impact on resto…i don’t think players are going to like it if kept this way, because it feels like we will be funneled into a single talent path…(i don’t think many restos will want to play without it tbh, it’s a mandatory choice imo)
please consider reverting this sunfire pathing, and perhaps look at talents players ARE NOT choosing, like Nourish, Verdant Heart and Hibernate…
also i don’t think typhoon needed anything more…could have just added a brand new interesting talent like mana flare for faerie dragons or something

that would have been a way more interesting talent choice over whatever random typhoon node they want to add 
I suppose the new talent that buffs swipe is ultimately an AOE buff for catweaving, but it’s definitely not enough to make up for losing Sunfire.
running dungeons, sunfire outdamages my swipe by a lot :\ i don’t think it’s going to make any catweave player happy, regardless of skill level
sunfire is just simply one of the best abilities we get
Agreed. Solid DPS while we get to heal at the same time.
I probably wouldn’t mind playing more of a balanced playstyle if Starfire wasn’t such a long cast time, but to have to commit a GCD for moonkin form then a cast over 2 seconds long for “meh” damage doesn’t work for me.

the devs should put starsurge in place of the new sunfire spot and simply put sunfire off to the side as an optional pick. it does less damage single target than starsurge for quadruple the mana cost and it’s primary use in most situations is from a talent that totals in two points spent, points that specs other than moonkin typically can’t afford
why allow us to fork off and not pick AOE sunfire if sunfire is going to be mandatory with starsurge as a choice?
in pvp specifically, you want astral influence as a resto druid but you aren’t pressing sunfire ever. starsurge is great for resto now that it no longer requires moonkin form, it even has shown use for feral in PVP
ONLY if you dedicate a mid-tree point will sunfire ever find use, and before you say “but moonkins” so why is moonkin having the option to not pick starsurge? i can say with confidence that boomkin, in high end content, will never find a situation where starfall exceeds starsurge in single target

I still don’t know why it was split into two talents to begin with when it was an AOE talent forever.

They should just make Sunfire AoE baseline. Why give us Sunfire, then make us take a separate talent to make it AoE? Seems counter productive. Just give us the skill as it was meant to be with 1 talent point.

Yes please. Id also be ok with with the first talent leading in to both if these talents then back in to moonkin form. But yeah for pvp its almost a dead talent due to mana cost.
i think they should just add the connection back to nature’s cure - and move the improved sunfire down.
or just get rid of “improved sunfire” and put something else there…what’s with the lack of new ideas on the tree? 
Yeah it’s kind of crap that they gate it behind starfire and boomkin. You have to take Sunfire and Advanced Sunfire, it makes up way too much of your damage to skip.
I’m of the opinion there is some developer that plays resto druid who really hates cat weaving, because they seem to constantly be trying to force you to play boomkin affinity even though the majority of resto druid community seems to dislike it. They did similiar nonsense at the beginning of shadowlands.

If Starfire had a shorter cast when you shifted into moonkin form, kinda like the master shapeshifter talent, it wouldn’t be so painful to play.

If you are currently talented swipe for catweaving, then this change will have zero affect on your swipe damage.
Swipe isn’t baseline. You have to talent it to use it. This change makes swipe baseline, but at 50% reduced damage.
Selecting the new talent puts the damage back to what it currently is now.
There is no change.

Spending a global on cat feels ok.
Spending a global on moonkin never feels ok. They gotta do something with that.
Agreed, please just remove Improved Sunfire talent, make sunfire talent AOE as part of the spell, and just put something else more interesting in Improves Sunfire spot.
