What is up with the removal of improved sunfire(the talent that lets sunfire hit everything within a radius) on the ptr?
The aoe component does not appear to be baked into the base spell and I can’t find that effect in any other talents either
It should go without saying that this change would be cataclysmic for the playstyle of balance druids in keys.
Is this an oversight and has blizz provided any context for this or did they just slap caster druids with a massive aoe nerf for no apparent reason?
I was looking to play balance as an alt next season but this changes things since I, and likely most other people, have no desire apply sunfire individually to each target in aoe situations next season.
It’ll actually just be a 1 point node with Imp Sunfire baked in.

It’s not being nerfed. Improved Sunfire is being baked into the normal Sunfire talent. Presumably this is because:
A) They should be combined anyway
B) This means that with the addition of Moonkin Form to the class talent tree you’re not spending an extra talent point.
At the time the post was made, the description on the patch notes did not reflect that(in fact the 11.1 ptr talent calculator and the patch note post on wowhead still do not reflect this at the time of this message). My post explained this.
The reply before yours shows how they intend to make the aoe component baseline.

I do agree they should be combined anyway since that’s basically the spell’s identity at this point.

I wanted to add more context as to why the change is being made in the way that it is. I’m not blaming you for misunderstanding how the change was being implemented so you don’t need to make excuses for it. I wasn’t being hostile to you so I have no idea why you’re being hostile to me.
Probably the same reason you came crying to the forums before anything was even set in stone. Using the PTR and acting like it’s the finished product is foolish. Yet here you are
