Sunfire, an ability that does nature damage is not currently scaling with nature damage at all. Just wanted to point this out.
Yeah, I bought an entire set of bonus nature dmg on AH, and it didnt do anything. heh. Only spent like 7g gold, but w/e ![]()
good it should do fire damage lol
seriously though it should do nature damage so it works with the talent tree BUT the skill needs to be totally redesigned to be something else that makes sense as nature damage
OH MAN I JUST GOT BLASTED IN THE FACE WITH FIRE FROM THE SKY! I BETTER UP MY… nature resist?
Uh wait is this true for the caster version, or just the cat version?
The cat version isn’t supposed to scale with Sp at all. The caster version almost certainly does scale with +nature.
You’re pretty salty about that aren’t ya.
Classic class fantasy is intuitive and generally makes sense within the fantasy world we inhabit. Theres nothing intuitive about a Fire spell, with fire in its name, that blasts you with orange fire, that says “hmmm this probably does nature damage”
It’s a fairly big thing in lore that Druids don’t wield fire, or those that do, are like, the evil ones or whatever.
Anyway, Sunfire does nature damage because it works well with the rest of the Druid kit. Holy Fire – the ability from which Sunfire inherited its animation – is a holy damage ability anyway, not fire.
I think it should be nature damage but just be redesigned and called something else that doesnt indicate fire. at least holyfire has the word holy in it to make it less of a stretch
Anyway I just tested this an the caster version absolutely scales with +nature damage, it’s just that the scaling isn’t very good on the initial hit anyway. The initial burst hit gets 13% of your spellpower. In other words, if you have 100 nature damage, you’re only getting 13 additional damage on the big hit. I have 90, which means it’s gaining 11.7 damage. If I take off my +nature pieces I now have 70 spellpower total meaning it’s getting 9 instead of 11.
The DoT portion gains 15% of your spellpower per tick. I took off my nature gear and my DoT ticks went down by ~2-3 damage, which is about what you’d expect.
It doesn’t go up with attack power either.
If it doesn’t go up with spell power or attack power this will hit like a wet noodle later on. Much to everyone’s delight, i’m sure ![]()
(I haven’t tested raw spell power, just + nature and attack power)
Thank you for actually testing, I’m sitting at+ 130 nature dmg with boon and I’m hitting only 80s I would have expected a lot more
Tooltip says nature damage
I’m talking about caster version, seems like it just has very low ratio
read much? read what i said again
I dunno, this just doesn’t seem true from my testing. I have 90 +nature damage and in fact the ability deals more damage in cat form than it does in caster form and decreases with I take off my seal of wrynn, +nature gear, and sentinel necklace, which implies it’s using both to calculate its damage. Again, the scaling isn’t great so the differences are extremely small but it does seem to improve.
For what it’s worth, DoTs usually seem to have “low” ratios because each tick of the DoT gains spellpower independently. So actually, the scaling is good, it’s just not flashy. For example, If you have 100 spellpower you’re getting +15 damage on each tick of the DoT. Sunfire ticks 4 times (I think) which means that it’s getting 13+15+15+15+15 = 73% of your spellpower. Not bad for a single GCD.
Thanks for clearing it up everyone I guess I was just focused on the initial damage more than anything
NP!
Btw it’s not a bad idea to grab arcane damage cloth in the slots where there’s no +nature damage if you haven’t already.
Feral sunfire definitely at least is getting boosted by the feral +55 AP baked into cat form. I took off all of my gear and my sunfire hits for high 80s. My caster sunfire while wearing no gear hits for the tool tip damage.
