I was thinking about the blood elf/void elf customization bomb Blizzard dropped. Ever since the blue eye datamine a while back, followed by Ion’s statements up to and including some just a few weeks ago, I have been thinking that helfs were going to be a big reveal for SL and that they were saving it for the most beneficial time. Now, with Blizzcon cancelled and the release set for Q4 (and likely late Q4 at that) I wonder if they dropped it to generate some hype during the content drought.

I mean, the weather is getting better, things are opening back up and people are starting to give up their indoor activities. Seems like a good time to throw something out for customer retention to me. Am I reading too much into it?

Call me crazy, but I reckon Belves were the only ones getting blue eyes but since it got datamined Blizzard had to do damage control and give Velves the options they are getting so the forums would not go nuclear.

Giving the belves blue eyes without dealing with the helf issue would have been a profoundly bad business move. The forums would have been the least of their problems. That would have set off a friggin alliance mutiny.

In another timeline that happened and I am sad I do not get to see that happen.
