Summon Gargoyle

Any plans for this talent in 9.2. “Summon Gargoyle” has seen no use in years now.

With the upcoming buff to the “Convocation of the Dead” conduit which (already) synergises really well with the “Army of the Damned” talent, I don’t see how “Summon Gargoyle” or even “Unholy Assault” are going to be competitive choices once 9.2 goes live.

I’m glad “Unholy” is receiving some buffs but I’m disappointed to see we are being cattered into a specific build with very little room for flavor.

Anyone else?

Really hope they buff gargoyle at some point

Same. I gave it a try and was completely underwhelmed by it. Would be nice if they would buff it a bit to bring it in line with other similar talents and abilities. I hate the idea (on any class) of having something there that you look at and go “nah, I’m not even interested”.

Definately one of the worst 3 minutes CD in the game right now! Very unfortunate for such an iconic ability.

They probably won’t be competitive since we want to use all of our many cds together and we need the AotD talent to line up Apoc. That being said, the wound build with UA and NF seems to be viable for some m+ scenarios, though it’s clunky and not something that I really want to play (the build or NF).

I highly doubt Blizz is concerned about giving us 3 viable capstone talents either, since they’ve already admitted to not even having enough dev time to properly finish the tier sets for 9.2.

If they do have time to look things over, I’d much rather see a spec overhaul first 'cause both frost and unholy are a mess.

Honestly I don’t think that both specs are in need of a major revamp. Frost definately needs added depth though.

As we go into 9.2, unholy will probably feel smoother with the additional haste from higher item levels, which to me is the biggest drawback right now (slow GCD).

What I wanted to throw out there is really the fact they need to diversify the amount of options we have when it comes to talent builds. I’m speaking of unholy since it’s what I main but I think frost is even more affected by this.

Unused talents need to be revamped or tweaked when they see no use over a wide range of scenarios.

Posting in DK forums but I’m sure this is true for multiple classes.

Unholy assault is kinda competitive, Garg is DOA as long it stays a 30 sec duration, 3 min cd.
It can see use in pure single target if they double the damage and reduce the duration to 15 secs and cd to 2 min.

Yeah it should def be intended for single target ranged fights. I find it cool that unholy can be played as a semi-ranged melee. They should emphasize more on that. Summon Gargoyle seems to be the right talent to seal the deal. No idea why they are idle on it.

Or…

Make Gargoyle baseline and incorporate it with Army of the Damned.
Bring back Necrotic Plague in Gargoyle’s slot.
Make Unholy Assault apply wounds in an area.

That would be the most ideal scenario for the last row for Unholy. Minion, Rot or Wounds.

No. No more baseline stuff and no necrotic plague. Quit sugesting that.

Why not???

Concerning how unholy is right with the cds that’s available now combined with the gcd. It would be a bit much.

Not against a baseline Gargoyle since it’s useless as a talent, but just saying.

Then merge DT with Apocalypse! I am not sure if GCD is a strong excuse to not have a powerful cooldown.

I remember Tyfus suggested this that remedy the GCD issue a bit.

EDIT: Although, I do see a merit of not wanting to use it.

They tried that it was fun ppl ppl whinned and they returned it back to normal.
And necrotic plague is a boring fire and forget ability, no bringing it back unless less powerful on a lower row.

taking DT off the GCD is what people want and its the one thing the devs flat out refuse to do for completely unknown reasons.

they tried merging DT and Apoc but the problem is in PVP we want granular control over DT for the spell interrupt.

taking it off the GCD lets people merge it with apoc in a macro while still maintaining the option to press each spell independently as needed.

It’s a Dot.

But if you rather stick to Virulent Plague that’s just as boring fire and forget ability, that’s fine I guess.

Maybe there should be a pvp talent for that then?

we already have a lot of stuff as pvp talents that are fun and cool and everyone loves but they are never bis and they never see the light of day.

Oh yea, a pvp talent slot is also valuable.

Hm, what could be best to fit in a pvp ability then?

Necromancer’s Bargain???

I dunno. :man_shrugging: This is an interesting hindsight.

personally i would rather see a few pvp talents go baseline, allowing us to keep them but freeing up spots.

how would that work? take NB in order to have DT go off with apoc?
