Summon Effigy

Summon an Effigy, target-able only by the priest.

Would something like this work as a solution to issues with disc where you don't have anything to hit, or that something takes reduced damage, but need to do steady group wide damage?

The taking reduced damage part doesn't matter for your healing, same as if something takes extra damage that also doesn't boost your healing (unless it's from your own abilities, like schism).

For the nothing to hit part yeah I mean it would be nice to have some way to work around it.
Interesting concept. I like it, though maybe in a more priest-centric form. False Idol? LOL

Dear god no!, Soul Effigy was awful with Affliction, dunno why it would suddenly be good for disc.

Different though. I'm not sure what soul effigy was though, was it similar to arcane mages 100 talent in WoD?

I'm just thinking bursting when you have like 6-7 stacks and everythings dead.
With the right talent I can heal by shooting my summoned Mailbox. It's silly, very very niche, and will get removed for certain.

EDIT: Of course, with that same talent you can also heal people directly sooo
I'm struggling to think of when you'd need to heal a nearby ally but would also have absolutely no enemy target to attack.

Does your friend like to swim in lava?

At the end of pulls with Bursting, and Grievous for one.

It's quite common, like the post above says, Bursting and Grievous are two very important ones.

Some raid bosses also have intermission phases with nothing to attack, Vectis liquify phase in Uldir, Immonar bridge crossing in Antorus, just to name a few from recent memory.

-------
Edit: Anyway while something like an effigy would be a nice QoL addition on situations with no target to attack, I think I'm ok with having that as a weakness of my spec. In raids I just let the other healers know I'm not very useful on those phases and we coordinate CDs to play around it, and for M+ it may be a weakness but it's not that bad, I was still able to do keys on the range of +12 to +15 with those affixes.

Vectis phase 2 and Kil'jaeden intermissions (technically have a target, but not usually in range). Anytime immediately after combat ends, such as the last pack of bloods on the Uldir walkway (raid continues taking ticking damage after the bloods die).
!@#$ off with this effigy garbage. Affliction was horrible with it, and shadow will be worse.

Let. It. Die.

The idea is for Disc priest to be able to heal when no enemy is in range, nobody is talking about shadow.
