Something needs to be done to kill all summon bots. Trade and LFG chats are already full of bots selling summons between cities for 50s with auto invites.
For a game where the idea is players are meant to be out in the world exploring, aren’t summon services antithetical to the design philosophy?
Based on what feedback I’ve been seeing that any travel convenience is a bad thing in Classic? Yes. They’re 100% against the spirit of Classic.
Not going to stop tons of people from using obvious bots to get around, while patting themselves on the back for being defenders of the classicality of Classic+, but here we are.
People who value their play time and care about efficiency find value in their services. Not everybody plays like you. This game is for everyone.
I would love to see Blizzard enforce its own TOS. Is there a /services channel in Forever? They say spamming summons services outside of the services channel is against TOS. We should be able to report and Blizzard should suspend those accounts. Unfortunately, I don’t think the reports are going anywhere other than the trash.
There is indeed a trade services channel. But just like an anniversary no one uses it and they just spam in /2 and /4 instead.
Then Blizzard needs to get off their butts and enforce their own rules.
Same argument can be used for boosting. It’s a poor argument. If people don’t want to play the game then they should play something else.
They are playing the game. They just aren’t playing the way you want them to play. It’s a non issue.
I didn’t give a damn about summon bots existing. Used them in SoD all the time for convenience and because travel times were awful. My issue is with the hypocrisy of Classic Purists saying “Travel needs to be slow and tedious, that’s what makes Classic classic!” then using summon bots to get around quickly because they find travel slow and tedious.
It’s been shown over and over, games that adjust to the players don’t stick around long. Games that expect the players to adjust to the game have legs and last.
Players saying they want the game to “respect their time” are lazy and have been brainwashed.
It is indeed an issue. It’s actually a massive issue. It’s not just “convenience”, it’s a major driving force of RMT. People aren’t selling summons so they can afford consumables for raids, they are selling summons to trade gold for money. People who use these services also are more likely to trade money for gold.
I mean… WoW is still going pretty damn strong, and it’s been listening to its players for two decades… Sure, not every player believes in one specific version of the game but… it’s hard to claim it doesn’t have the legs to last.
Using your class abilities to form a market for travel is non issue and will continue being a thing as long as classic lives and is profitable for their time.

I saw a post a few days ago calling out lack of a wow token. They said the quiet part out loud when they said they won’t be playing because they can’t profit from boosting and won’t be able to pay for their monthly sub.
There are many people who view WoW as a way to earn money, be it boosting, selling summons or ports and GDKP. It’s all bad and needs to be heavily suppressed.
Acting like it’s just a clever, skillful use of class mechanics to buy 2+ extra accounts and run botting software to sell summons, lol. Starting to suspect this fella might be a summon botnet operator.
Not inherently no.
If a player wants to stand in a city all day and sell summons, that’s on them.
Now if they are having a bot do it all day, then they should be banned for botting.
Remember mages and warlocks existed in vanilla and could summon and port people in vanilla, so travel services is in the spirit of classic.
This right here is the issue, like I said before. People are using WoW for financial gain. Those people need to be banned.
It’s not botting software. It’s multi boxing accounts. It’s also not cheating. You can have 8 accounts per blizzard license. You set up POIs and make easy gold from providing a service. I know guys are wanting a boogeyman but this ain’t it.
