Nerfing both base damage and spell power coefficient is WAY overkill. Choose one, not both. This “30%” nerf is more like 50-60% overall. I swear if you all just fixed SP coefficient and touched nothing else everything would be fine but with both nerfs in place this spell is horrendously bad.
We are once again OOMkins. These changes are forcing us to hit Star Fire 2x as often which is completely killing our mana in longer fights. Our rotation has been completely destroyed with these changes which goes back to point #1… too many unnecessary changes. Nerf SP or base damage and leave everything else alone.
You’ve completely ignored the fact that spell pushback protection from the Eclipse rune is just flat out not working. This makes both PVP and PVE unplayable as we need to cast a 3.1 second spell to do ANY damage (assuming it doesn’t resist … which it does half the time )
The added animation of Starsurge hitting out character is unnecessary. In PVP you think you’re being opened by another Boomy and in PVE it’s eye cancer. In general…why???
As already stated, this nerf is overkill. Having said that, why are you all ignoring the fact that Boomy’s (pre-nerf) are 5th overall in Gnomer DPS? You do realize that this change will make Boomy’s completely useless right? Based on log data, it’s clear this nerf is PVP oriented and if that is the case then why am I still being one shot by Spriests, Hunters, Rogues, Mages and Shaman? Also, what happened to waiting a few weeks before doing anything too drastic? Who making these calls on your team???
Super disappointed with these changes overall. A lot of us raced to 40, leveled professions, grinded rank 5, farmed gear/gold to be ready for Gnomer only to be nerfed before first lockout. These changes make the game unenjoyable and we really hope you will consider making additional adjustments to fix other classes and to not completely gut Moonkins. We need a response from you all ASAP because at this rate many of us have lost all motivation to continue to play the game. I don’t have time to level another character and I put all my eggs in the Boomy basket gear wise so I cannot even switch specs at this point.
I agree the nerf was too heavy handed. 30% is a lot on its own, and the coefficient just means it will definitely lose power as the playerbase gears through gnomer and AB rep. I don’t play druid, but I know that 18 seconds is way to long to kill a target with the current state of pvp.
Yea it is getting pretty old pretty quick. Devs have zero clue what they are doing when it comes to balance adjustments. 2 decades and they still cant comprehend that A: you never balance around PvP and B: you should do small incremental changes, not polar opposite changes.
I’m sure a lot of players end up saying this but after playing boomkin for all of wow’s history it often and easily feels like we’re the quickest to be nerfed.
Relegated to (close to)worst at all times and if we ever usurp that rule nerfs are quickly enforced.
People just hate seeing us do well, not even best just better…

Personally considering quitting. I know, not an airport. But I just no lifed for multiple days, grinded professions and dropped ALL of my gold between mount and new recipes in hopes of not being bottom dps all phase. Only for my class to become unplayable the night before raid without notice.
I dont want to invest time leveling an alt, because the developers have shown to be irrational and theyll probably nerf that one too.
It was supposed to be season of discovery but its just turning into really bad vibes and mob rule with no critical thinking from the dev team.
After 5 bgs this morning, it still hard to tell where the nerfs are at, but with no spell pushback I’ve only managed to get a handful of starfires off in 1v1s. 1. Its basically just a 50% nerf to total damage if you can never actually cast the starfire to benefit from the damage buff.
I liked that you mentioned the new animation on the character. I’m flinching every time i press it and looking around with my camera lol.
I wanna see what the logs look like after this week. If they are keeping star surge damage where it is and pve damage is okay we need 100% pushback on eclipse for pvp. If pve damage is low maybe turn the starfire buff up more?
The other lame thing is I don’t have any mana to heal anymore cause I’m forced to spam moonfire. I have to drink after every fight. I’m not sure if that needs fixed or not, we’re early in the patch and I know some other classes were having mana issues too, so maybe that will be fixed by gear a bit. It feels good to be able to pop in and out and heal party members though, and that’s like 50-60% of a mana bar in 4 globals atm. I guess that might be in line with ret/enh maybe. Probs a bit worst than spriest / ele in terms of hyrbids… Donno… I’m rambling.
They added 50% mana reduction on shadow form AND gave them a rune to get mana back which doubles as a defensive (Dispersion) AND gave them a QoL book that gives them mana back and does DPS which is better then most runes.
This often happens on Private Servers. Nothing to see here.
I’m trying to decide if I want to continue with feral given where we are at and what was datamined. I was thinking of rerolling rogue since I can tank well and DPS like I wanted to as a feral. Then I think “the same team that obliterated balance after just in passing discussing it over the weekend and not testing anything could easily do that to any other class”. With this level of professionalism is it really worth the investment?
Ill wait a week or two to see if feral is fixed. After that Im out if its still just a WF bot.
This is an obvious PvP nerf. It plays out like they were spitballing nerf ideas in discord over the weekend and just threw them all live.
If Starsurge hits for 300 do you need the effect to quickly find the druid? When a SP dots me up, do I see crap fall on their head to easily find them behind a tree?
Balance druids were OP and ruining certain aspects of the game. One must only look at the representation of balance druids to see the truth of this. Now the FotM kiddos and move on to the next class that will be nerfed and they will cry then too. The real balance druids will continue to play the spec, raid, pvp and enjoy the spec.
Return of the oomkin is awful and then on top of it we went from a fun and dynamic rotation to just an extremely boring fixed rotation until we OOM and our DPS nose dives. Now forced to mana pots on CD and self-innervate which you can’t even use in moonkin form on top of removing one of our biggest utilities we brought to raids…
This change feels like they have no idea what to do with druid period. All druid specs/roles are basically stuck back in the same spot they have been all of classic/vanilla.
Sadly as well written as this post is the devs clearly aren’t going to do anything about this for a good long bit. Coupled with the fact that they buffed starsurge only to nerf it again instead of fixing the bugged spell power modifier. Show they put 0 effort into testing which leads to complete community distrust in their ability to take this venture forward in the future. The only thing companies seem to understand now days is loss of revenue. Maybe if they suffer some more layoffs from losing more customers due to half baked ideas they will actually spend some money on testing. I commend you on your effort to write a post based on reason and understand though.
I played a hunter and everyone screamed nerf hunters/nerf this nerf pets/nerf nerf nerf… well after the 37th hunter nerf i made a druid.
Bliz flagged my account because I said they need to hire a director of fun so they could fun back into thier games so what ever class i play in any of thier games they nerf.
And yes, you guessed it after being nerf daily and often on my hunter, i made a druid to be back to somewhat of power and had ack… “FUN” playing a druid.

on a side note, what class do you guys want me to play next to suffer the same nerfage as hunters and druids?
