OK i prefer a cleaner more casual, dare i say “real world” look to my mogs.
So im curious if anyone has any ideas along those lines that i may have overlooked, specifically in mail?

Look in your wardrobe for older pieces or set it for uncollected. There are some lower level pieces of mail that look like leather. There are even a few things in racial starting areas worth grabbing.
I think my most “casual” mail outfit is my hippy flower child green and purple leather outfit (mostly from early draenai questing), but it doesn’t look very “real world.” You’ll have to give some examples of what that means to you–I can’t view your current transmog.

Have you tried the Better Wardrobe and Transmog AddOn?
The nice thing about it is it adds a tab for quest and dungeon sets. I find those are more causal and less flashy than the usual suspects. Icy Veins did a write up on it, sadly I can not link.

I’d support more practical cosmetic item. I’d enjoy having simple pants and chest pieces made that lend themselves to a more casual appearance
When it comes to simple pants, I’ve had this (discontinued) black mail transmog for a long time, and I’ve been surprised at how difficult it has been to use them. Maybe it is because I don’t really want it to look like I’m wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Maybe it is that matching shades of black are hard to come by. Either way, more options are always better!
