This currency is virtually useless for all non-Venthyr players, especially ones that do not partake in Battle Pets(Top reward is a battle pet). Might as well complain about it now, but I do not believe this to be a healthy, long term reward. I would understand receiving this reward as a World Quest reward for Revendreth, but as a Calling reward? It just feels plain unrewarding and underwhelming.
Conduits, Soul Ash, Anima, Gold, Gear(even lower ILvL gear compared to what I’m wearing, would be acceptable, as it can be disenchanted and/or sold for a gold value), even crafting material or special transmog would be acceptable, but an utterly useless currency is unacceptable.

Uhh… it’s really not ‘useless for non-venthyr players’ there is a use for it for all players in the Revendreth zone.
How much use depends on the player.

I consider, as do a majority of the player base, “flavor buff” items that can only be used in the world, to be utterly useless. They’re nothing more than items to take up inventory space, in my honest opinion. It would actually cost me more time to go vendors to acquire these items for use in the world, than it would be for me to simply clear the map of content.
The “Dredger” items are only usable by players of the Venthyr covenant, as you do not have dredger access being of another covenant(outside of the two world quests, which I would assume this does not apply for, as it would literally be useless.)
This leaves, what? A battle pet, and some boot transmog. I do believe it unacceptable as a Calling currency reward, given the available rewards, especially at a 100 cap.

You do not speak for anyone other than yourself and maybe a few of your really close friends. Sorry but that’s the truth, and maybe for you and your close friends those items are useless and you’d rather have a different currency, but others who are not you and your close friends may, in fact, use those items often and want a somewhat reliable way to get rubies.

I Really wanna know what you’re using Infused Rubies on. Because aside from the chest that requires 99, there isnt anything.

Hate to break it to you, but this is the consensus of about 4 different guilds on the highest population NA server on WoW. I have had 1 person out of about 250 between the 4 guilds tell me anything useful. It would be for alchemy patterns. So if you’re not venthyr, not an alchemist, this currency is useless.
Personally I’ve used them on (or plan to use them on) the following:
- Enchanted Map of the Ruby Network (100 Rubies)
- All-In-One Belt Repair Kit (5 Rubies)
- Recipe: Red Noggin Candle (10 Rubies)
- Dredger Barrow Racer (50 Rubies)
And I regularily buy Sentry Neutralizers, because those actually come in handy from time to time when I want to take out some enemies but don’t want to fight the Stonewrought Sentries that are nearby.
Worth noting that you can also ride certain Sinrunners and activate Stonewrought Bats throughout the zone with said rubies.

You want a reliable way to acquire rubies? Do zone content in that particular zone, but to make it a Calling reward? Yeah, that’s gonna be a huge yikes from me.
Again, you’re welcome to your opinion. But you don’t speak for everyone. In fact you don’t even speak for 0.1% of the playerbase. Other players may find those useful as I have. As long as they remain useful to others, there should be a way to reliably get them, and one of the most reliable ways is via the Revendreth calling.

I used it to buy a pet. The Count. pretty cute.

You would be factually incorrect in your statement. You can reliably farm significantly more through the zone itself, with some quests giving 35 rubies alone. To make this a Calling reward is a cop out to not give us actually useful items. Do you think a majority of the player base plays Battle Pets? I can say with surety that Battle Pets players are in the significant minority. There should be a way to opt out of infused rubies as a reward, or make it covenant specific.
What use are these items in PVP? There is not one.
What use are these items in M+? There is not one.
What use are these items in raid? There is not one.
Crafting? Only super specific professions
Covenant? Venthyr only for anything actually useful.
They are only used in the most niche areas of the game.
Why would I bother with this 'mog, when I can do legacy content and receive objectively better 'mog?
You’re the only one in this thread out of the people that have replied that actually thing this currency is useful, and I’m telling you it’s literally useless.

Yeah, i probably have gotten about 250 so far and spent zero which means 150 wasted.

Agreed, I have been capped at 100 since day 3, and looking through all of the WoWhead stuff, I just don’t see myself using it on ANYTHING. Why would I waste my time acquiring this stuff for world content? I’m playing Sub rogue, everything dies super fast, just a waste of time and a cop out to further the grind by giving less opportunity for actually useful rewards.

And yet life goes on. Don’t like them then don’t use them. I don’t see a reason to take away something others like just because you don’t. Calling reward suck anyways IMO. You do what you need for the renown and then forget about it unless you’re farming anima or some low level gear.
That’s the thing though, I don’t see a large portion of people saying they actually like this currency, just individuals. When I ask in Stormrage Alliance or Area 52 Horde trade chats, it’s a resounding “this currency is useless”.
I think it would be acceptable for Blizzard to make a design change into allowing reroll tokens to be purchased with this currency.
Carhagen, YOU don’t speak for anyone other than yourself. I don’t believe Exitd was trying to speak for anyone else, but I definltey agree with them. I just did 3 WQs as a Night Fae calling and received 16 infused rubies…I have no use for them. As Exitd said, there are much better rewards that most likely many players would rather receive.
Tbh non-covenant reps shouldn’t have covenant locked rewards at all. Put all covenant specific stuff behind renown or just don’t let everyone get the certain rep.
Edit: oops, necro. Point still stand though. It’s pretty stupid that I can grind a rep for no exalted reward unless I’m a specific covenant.
Though the cap of 100 is annoying.
