Dishonorable kill’s are one of the worst mechanics in classic WoW and totally kill the vibe on a PvP server. A city raid is one of the most classic type of gameplay there is but it’s impossible to do with the honor system and Dishonorable Kills. Dishonorable kills are given for killing random npcs and the penalty is huge. I think the idea behind DHK was to penalize killing questgivers but anyone purposly greifing by killing low level questgivers instead of farming honor does not care about honor ranking. All it does is make City raids impossible and world pvp less fun. With the news of faction balanced pvp realms the potential for SoD to actually deliver on the fantasy of two factions fighting each other is there. DHK is the only thing left standing in the way of that.
Thats fair. Maybe they could make killing quest givers in non-main city zones only award DHKs (turn it off in SW/Org i.e.) or perhaps boot you for an hour. I know the sociopath degens are gonna degen, but still.
Should remove it from all servers. It accomplished nothing other than killing city raids.
Thats true, but I can see entire zones being wiped keeping people from playing the game, on PvE servers even.
Dishonorable kills don’t prevent that. People who do such a thing don’t care about Honor anyway.
If they really cared about keeping quest givers alive they could make them not be able to be attacked full stop. No reason for this whole DHK business. Wanted posters can’t be killed either so non-killable quest givers already exist in the game.
Remove DHKs and then make quest-givers killable but give them 10 minutes immunity after being killed.
Making NPCs that would give DHKs unattackable instead makes the most sense (unflag them and make them not attack). It seemed like a terrible pointless system to everyone back in real vanilla. The only thing it accomplished was getting people grinding rank to become paranoid and refuse to group with other people in areas where it was a possibility.
Nah, making them unattackable is lame. Give them bodyguard npcs or something.
How would that stop you from one shotting them to grief people?
Yeah, rogue campers who no life it in Redridge would just kill and Vanish. Easier just to make them not attackable.
Well, I would say first and foremost it’s a player ‘problem’ and therefore a player ‘solution’. Kill the enemy. If they’re killing civilians they’re flagged right? On a horribly faction imbalanced server that might be an issue though.
There’s lots of ways. Buff the npcs. Give them some kind of damage mitigation. Maybe players just do less damage to certain quest givers. Perhaps living in such a dangerous way they’ve decided to deck themselves in resilience gear. An rp way you could have special guardian npcs around casting shields on mobs. But flat out making them unattackable? That’s no good.
Kinda hard to kill someone you can never find. Most of the 60 rogues just hide and wait til the real pvp goes away. I agree though. Make them skull level mobs with thrash that does aoe damage scaled by level.
You attack a civilian you get an undispellable faerie fire cast on you. Good luck stealthing.
Oh thats a nice one. Lasts 30 mins.
Please fix this!
With the ashenvale event added I’m surprised DHks in that zone exist. It is what it is but imo it shouldn’t be a thing in PvP zones especially when grouping and cleaving can occur. The night elf near Zoram strand for example. Alliance come by in a group-> member of party tags-> a cleave occurs amidst a battle = punished. Seems silly to keep in. Again just my opinion.
This NE near zoram is also flagged for pvp so he pets will auto target him
But it only affects horde so Blizzard does not care
Working as intended.
just remove the dhks. nobody is truly innocent
