So, being honest on this one, I think the kaldorei glaives functioning as swords for night elf heritage armor had been a good move. One issue.
For warrior, which is arguably what a sentinel is within night elf culture, no spec is going to be able to utilize these glaives in an intentional manner, and in a game environment which makes sense. In other words, no fury warrior who is going to be doing content which is meaningful is going to run Single Minded Fury. There is no reason to. And arms has utilization for a one handed weapon.
The only spec of warrior which is going to utilize a 1 hander weapon in a form of content which matters is prot. And using a glaive with a shield seems redundant from a weapons point of view considering glaives are meant to be a defensive weapon with parrying being the point behind them in the first place.
So. Suggestion, right? Make it so the offhand glaive can also be transmogged in place of a shield. That way it looks like a night elf protection warrior (which is the point behind them considering they are the protectors of the kaldorei land) is dual wielding glaives running into combat, and using the secondary glaive primarily as a parry source, rather than having to use a shield with it. I know it would be a bit janky and it would be making a sword transmog into a shield which has never been done before, but with transmog restrictions becoming loosened, I feel like this could be an exception given premise, weapon sizing / shape, and other factors.
That’s a greater sacrifice than I’m willing to make to be honest. SMF is not good optimization wise. I decided to make a rogue for leveling using them and the heritage armor to kind of get the feel but randomly popping out a gun and capping someone in the dome isn’t very sentinel like lol
tbf I don’t actually do content on her much, she’s an rp alt lol So I’ll just do the weeklies.
That’s why I went with warrior. I do have a rogue nelf that uses glaives but I hate that I have to use a gun in some of the animations since yeah it doesn’t feel very sentinel like.
Sentinels are comprised of Archers, Warriors, Rogues for the most part. Each is a different position within the Sentinel army. One isn’t “closer” than the other.
Irrelevant, tbh. That doesn’t mean other classes aren’t part of the Sentinel army. And there’s literally a Rogue Hero Talent tree named Fatebound— whatever that is. They just pulled names out of a hat for those. Some are pretty terrible and don’t make much sense.
It’s not an “attitude.” It’s just math for that high of a level of content. People pushing 25+ keys or Mythic raids are going to min max and SMF is sadly far behind. For most of us, that won’t much matter, most likely. Because we don’t need to min/max like that to do what we do.
I wasn’t questioning the math. I was talking about the choice of language, calling only certain content meaningful. Like I said, meaningful is relative.
Meaningful content to me is high end arena, and above 19s and 20s in keys. It’s not a slight against someone to say SMF doesn’t belong in meaningful content. It just kinda doesn’t lol. Much the same as people wanting 2h enhancement back, it likely wouldn’t belong in that high level content. Don’t take things so personally when someone is just making a mathematical comment.
Yeah that’s fair. I try and reign in my tendency to be petty around here, but don’t always succeed. I’ll blame it on being early morning and uncaffeinated.
My person opinion is, as usual, that it is silly That these things are called glaives. A glaive is a polearm, halfway in development between being a spear onto its way to become a halberd.
