I’d like to suggest a new optional system for Mythic+ content: a Solo Keystone Queue, designed for majority of m+ population: solo players. We want to engage with Mythic+ without relying on frustrating and time-consuming LFG tool.
Just like Solo Shuffle was added to PvP without replacing 2v2 or 3v3, this Solo M+ queue would exist alongside the current Mythic+ system. It doesn’t replace anything - it only expands the options.
The Problem This Solves
If you’re a solo player trying to run Mythic+, this will sound familiar:
You spend far more time sitting in LFG than actually playing.
You’re competing with boosted players, 4-man premades, meta specs, tipsters, and high-Rio players - just to fill a single spot for a try in keystone.
The current system is brutal for solo players, who often feel like second-class citizens. We’re excluded not because of skill, but because we aren’t in the right comp, class, or premade, not paying tips or begging for an invite.
You end up spending your night applying to keys instead of playing them.
This creates a miserable loop where the actual content is buried behind gatekeeping, rejection, and waiting. The majority of players are solo, yet the system isn’t made for us.
The Proposed Solution: Solo Keystone Queue
Add a separate queue system where solo players can participate in Mythic+ with others in the same situation - similar to how Solo Shuffle works for PvP.
How It Could Work:
Introduce a new “Solo Keystone”, either earned or adapted from your regular key.
This key allows you to queue solo, and the system matches you with other solo players (tank/healer/3 DPS).
Everyone in the group is solo - no premades or stacked comps.
Matchmaking considers roles, rating, and maybe spec diversity to build balanced groups.
Keys can upgrade on success and downgrade on failure, but never below your resilient floor.
Solo Queue could have separate rating and leaderboard. It could be separate ratings per your spec, like it’s done in solo shuffle.
Why This Is Good for the Game:
It opens up M+ to millions of players who currently feel blocked out by the social/grouping bottleneck.
It does not affect or replace the current Mythic+ system - coordinated groups and pushing with friends remain untouched.
It mirrors the Solo Shuffle success story: same content, new format, wider accessibility.
It gives players more ways to engage with endgame PvE, on their terms. It provides the way of pushing to their limits and achieving the results they deserve.
It effectively ENABLES the game for majority of players.
Final Thoughts
The current Mythic+ experience for solo players is not engaging. It’s a waiting room. A solo queue option would fix that - not by changing Mythic+, but by creating a parallel path for solo participation.
This system would empower the majority of the playerbase who aren’t in guilds or premades, don’t have hundreds of friends that are ready to team up with them and just want to play Mythic+ .
Thanks for reading, and I really hope the dev team considers a Solo Keystone Queue as a future feature. Like Solo Shuffle, it could be a major win for player engagement.
First off: This reads like it was written by a player who doesn’t know how M+ works feeding information into ChatGPT, and the “problem” it claims to solve quite literally isn’t a problem. You have your own key, the capacity to make a group.
Looking past that, this fails to handle the two biggest issues of every attempt someone has to explain a solo queue: Whose key is being used, and why would any tank or healer even consider signing up for a random group instead of a premade group?
I know how m+ works very well. I am currently rated around 3.8 rio and have spent some time there. Basically most of the time is ‘refresh’ click in lfg.
I think it could be a separate keystone which works for soloq. As an option it could be consumed from every player in key (1 run consumes 5 keys). But its only one option. I am sure there is the way to make it all work elegantly.
I also think tanks would love it, as they would most likely have instant proc. Press button - play dungeon.
That would also possibly incentivize players to play tanks as they would have insta pop.
Text is indeed corrected with AI, but all thoughts are mine and came from me and people that I know who are facing similar issues.
This isn’t solved at all. Even in current queued content, it can take 30m to get a group.
What if I told you that boosted players buy boosts not to get into keys later, but to get something out of the run itself or fill their vault. They buy boosts every week, no sneak into peoples keys. It’s incredibly easy to spot someone who has been boosted even from just the app.
The current system is mostly solo players. You’re right, you’re not excluded based on skill. No one can see skill before they invite you. You may however get declined for experience, which is verifiable.
Apply faster and more appropriately. Get a tool that tells you when a key already has your class, or just needs lust/br (if you don’t bring it) so you aren’t wasting your time queuing to something you’ll never get into. Don’t wait for the full 5m to time you out.
None of these things are actually solved, you just add a line to group up with the next tank and healer and almost no one is interested in tanking/healing a completely random group when there are stakes and difficulty. It’s why every piece of queue content in the game only needs half the players to be tabbed in.
As a tank, I get instant queues, I don’t need to sacrifice my own keystone to do a run, and I can sign up to groups that have a composition and members that look like they are going to succeed. Tack on the fact that M+ is high end content designed around communicating with your group, and I would not be stepping into this without some absolutely absurd incentives, well above anything that they give for current queued content (which has been designed around the expectation that the group is always successful, mind you).
You listed basic function of how M+ works as though they are novel concepts.
You can just use that time in whichever way you want - do other activites, alttab. Instead of spamming ‘refresh’, applying to diff groups etc etc nonstop. If you are nonmeta - you are really an outsider there.
On higher levels of rating (18+ keys atm) sometime its a big luck when you get to play one key per day. Some people may never get invited at all, unless they push their own keys with tonns of tipsers and boosted players. Its big waste of time.
You don’t have to as your regular keystone would not be affected. Its about having separate one just for the sake of solo experience. At least that was one of different viable options.
System should match you by rating of course, ideally separate from regular rio, so the people would have skill that is similar to yours.
Currently you rarely can match with people of same level, almost always someone is worse and someone is better. Ranked solo queue would eventually minimize this problem because your rating would point on how exactly you perform. There could be no buyers together with you if you are fair player.
IF there was ever a solo queue, no way it’s going to 18 or even 15. Hell, I’m pretty confident it wouldn’t even go to 12.
And IF it did go to 18, you’re still only going to do 1 key a day because the player pull is measured in the 100s to maybe 1200. Press queue button, run out of time before you find a group. Sounds about the same to me.
MMR for M+ queue sounds awful given you have 3 completely different roles and sets of responsibilities and no way to measure “skill” other than did you time the dungeon.
If you introduce solo queue, you would have to water the content down substantially or else groups would have a high failure rate at key levels so low that it would severely bottleneck progression and create mass backlash.
Some seasons I DPS, some I heal, so I fully understand the frustration people feel sitting in LFG, but it really is the best system we can hope for from an efficiency point of view.
After the changes to resilient keys the LFG has become much better. I have suggested a solo queue myself in the past, but I don’t think it’s necessary anymore. In the end, as we see with LFR, the number of groups is limited by the number of tanks and healers. This is a basic restriction that will not change with a solo queue as well.
I think automatic sign up system could work the current LFG system. So if you have all +4 keys done as dps and all +2s done a healer you could automatically sign up for any listed +2-5 key that has an available dps slot and any listed +2-3 key that has an available healer slot.
So say if you want to push your score up as dps you could sign up for all +5 keys and as new keys are listed you automatically sign up for them. And then later if you want to farm some crests as a healer you could sign up for all +2 and +3 keys with an available healer slot.
This automates the signing up process and hides rejections. Then you can go about your gameplay as if you were in queue.
I don’t entirely agree this is the best implementation but updooting anyways since the year is 2025 and we have the technology to make a matchmaking system for M+ without turning it into LFR. Like matchmaking + progressive difficulty and ranked consequences are not all mutually exclusive.
