[Suggestion] More basic building elements

Creating stuff in housing is very fun.
Lots of items are distorted to be used as building elements to make others and sometimes it’s not that easy.

Some building items are very handy such as the platforms.

More basic elements with basic shapes (cube, parallelepipeds, sphere, cylinders, trapezoids etc) in different materials (solid, wood, metal, transparent glass) and that can be dyed would be appreciable additions.

Also some basic components like strings, chains, flames, light sources etc. could be cool as well.

…yes, this suggestion could be summarized as “Please Blizzard, we want more LEGO bricks”.

At last, allow to shrink elements more, to 5%, some elements are very good for building smaller things but can’t be shrunk enough.

I’d like some arches personally. Basic wood beam arches, and ornate. Arched walls would work as well, but then I’d like a wide arch and a narrow arch (wide being about the size of an “open” wall and narrow being about the size of a door way.

But I imagine these are coming, its a pretty basic desire.

I also think building blocks (or white quality decor) shouldn’t count against decor budget.

According to the in game text, they don’t. However they do. Hopefully thats a bug and they fix it.

I’d love some additional building materials, but please, for the love of god, only assign them one decor budget cost at most.

I also would like more Legos. I’d also like them in more colors – lighter colored stone, dressed stone blocks, additional mosaic floor options, and so on.

Platforms and beams that can be dyed, and don’t have convex or concave edges/sides.

Flat squares and circles and rectangles that can be dyed, to be used the way the circle rugs are now.

The “water” effect that’s in some tubs and sinks, detached from any deco object, so it can be added to custom baths and sinks and water features.

More wall sections that match the way the room walls look more closely, in all the different possible combinations… or combine them into one item and make them customizable the same way the room walls are.

Decor budget exists for technical reasons, it costs server resources and client resources too.
More decor requires more GPU processing power and WoW should run smoothly even on low specs computers, that’s why the exterior budget is very low.
Housing also comes with a cost because each decor element is a row in a database table, even if cloud storage is cheap, it’s not 100% free as well.

Along with other things already mentioned…

I would like panes of glass that can be dyed like stained glass.

I would like smaller beams and platforms for making smaller items.

I would like the equivalent of a 2x4 board.

Tell me you don’t understand inventory systems without telling me you don’t understand inventory systems.

I think you misunderstood the text. They do not count against your 5000 owned decor limit. They do count towards your placed decor limit.

No I understand that perfectly. They are counting against the storage chest limit too, which is the opposite of what the game is telling players. Verify your info before telling others.

I have gotten a lot of them that are absolutely not counting against the storage chest. Which ones are you seeing actually count? Because my experience is they do not count.

Well, somebody is snippy this morning. I did. I have acquired quite a few of the ‘do not count structures’ and they did not count.

If you are finding ones that do, they seem to be the exception, not the rule. Report them as bugs.

You can literally go look at your storage chest count in game…right now. And go buy an item that says it doesn’t count, and it’ll tick up 1. I did that on live myself. There’s a whole thing in the storage chest thread.

You also can’t delete those items, so you can brick your account right now if you buy too many. As far as learning items is concerned.

I have done that and it has not ticked up. I have also gotten structures from the treasure hunt and not ticked up.

Not saying you are lying. It is entirely possible that you did it with different items and some of the items are not working as intended. Report it as a bug.

I’ve been using the elegant curved table as arches. They are pretty great for entryways and/or bridges. However they can be a little tricky to line up if you’re on an angle and are not 100% sure of the rotation. “Decorate” to change the texture/colour. Best we’ve got for now I 'spose.

How creative!!

Nice thinking. I used one as a surf board in the PTR as well. I’m hoping the Surf Shack in Razorwind Shores sells the ones they have at some point.

My main thought on this is for walls that fit under the stairs without having to flip and sink them. I’d like them to look more like they belong from the beginning.
