[Suggestion] Guild Challenge Gold Rewards haven't adjusted for 98% YoY inflation in 8+ years

Greeting,

Since the release of Cataclysm in 4.1 and the introduction of “Guild Challenges” each reward a static amount that has not kept up with the gold inflation. In fact, the very last time it was increased was in December 2016, when the gold awarded for all Guild Challenges was increased by roughly 50%. The amounts deposited into a guild bank have remained static for almost 8 years.

  • Dungeon 7/7 - 400g per - 2800g total
  • Mythic+ Dungeon 0/4 per - 750g - 3000g total
  • Raid 0/1 - 1500g per - 1500g total
  • Rated Battleground 0/3 - 750g per - 2250g total

This means on a typical week a Guild Bank can expect about 6550 - 8800g per week for the last 8 years.

To put into perspective, when the WoW Token was initially introduced in World of Warcraft on April 7, 2015, its price was set at 30,000 gold. The current price of a WoW token as of this writing is now 267,068g.

Over 8+ years the inflation Percentage Increase of a WoW Token = 790% the average annual percentage increase over 8 years is approximately 98.75% YoY

It’s clear that the gold rewards for Guild Challenges in World of Warcraft have not kept up with the significant inflation in the game’s economy, especially when compared to the increase in the price of WoW Tokens. Players and guilds often feel the impact of this when rewards don’t scale proportionally with inflation, leading to a decrease in the ability of guilds to fund activities, maintain guild perks, and provide incentives for members.

It would make sense for the game developers to periodically review and adjust the rewards for various in-game activities to ensure that they remain relevant in the context of the evolving economy. The simplest solution is to make the guild rewards scale percentage based on the average token price for the given week. The initial gold price for a WoW token is 30,000 is approximately 11.24% of the current 267,000g.

My suggestion is to use the applied 11.24% of the average WoW token price the previous week using a percentage-based scaling to the guild rewards so that they should look something like this:

  • Dungeon 7/7 - 3160g per - 22,120g total
  • Mythic+ Dungeon 0/4 per - 5,925g - 23,700g total
  • Raid 0/1 - 11,850g per - 11,850g total
  • Rated Battleground 0/3 - 5925g per - 17,775g total

This means on a typical week a Guild Bank adjusted for inflation can now expect about 57,670g - 75,445g per week.

I’m just glad they haven’t increased our sub prices to account for inflation :hugs:
