Suggestion for Future Characters

I love leveling characters, but it always seems since the original game you can no longer level in the current content until a certain level. With how level scaling works can we in future expansions level characters in that content instead of always using Chromie Time.

Every character I have made and leveled to 70 before “The War Within” tried different times, most going to “Battle for Azeroth” because a quest forced them or generally the gear upgrades where better before I spent 3+ million upgrading all my heirloom gear (102/105). In TWW, after I leveled my first 5 characters and got the 50% bonus, I can’t even complete one zone before that character is level 80 and I have no drive to keep going on that content that I completed once on my main.

If the technology is there for level scaling current content for 70-80, why can it not be used to level a fresh character to the highest level instead of always leveling in old content that isn’t relative to the newest story? Currently working on my 26th 80 out of 37 characters with 11 of the remaining all 70 and will level a new earthen to 80 from 1 soon.

What do most of you think? Would you rather level a new character in current content or continue to use Chromie Time?

I mean, we did it in Classic, and we have scaling everywhere. It should be an option. INB4 yelling about getting burned out questing on Khaz Algar. The only hiccup I could see is not having enough content to make the whole 80 levels and requiring either another expac to help, or a lot of Dungeon grinding to make up the difference. But, I like the idea.

Honestly would be nice to have it unlocked at creation and scaled to level once you’ve finished the campaign once with a max level toon.

Probably because they don’t want the new player experience mixed with max level players and also to give a way to not have people feel like they have to buy the new expansion just to play the game.

Nod, this could be one of the main issues that would require them to nix the idea. I know on my 1st character it took me 2 1/2 zones to hit level 80, and after my 5th character I can complete it just in the first zone every single time. I know there are a bit of quests to do that could help, but the problem is, is it enough for a level 1 to make it to 80 in current content like it was in classic/vanilla.

I could see this as a reason. Mixing new players in with old players does have disadvantages, but maybe they could do it with current active users that have leveled one of their characters in the current campaign or content? As far as it goes, I believe you have to complete the campaign to unlock the new race anyways so if players want to play the new race they have to buy the new expansion.

But I assume you met if new players picked up the game, they shouldn’t be forced to play in content they might not want or force them to buy that content they don’t want. I think, hard to remember, when I came back at launch of Shadowlands, I was forced into Battle for Azeroth, and I really hate Aztec looking gear. I leveled about 15 of my characters through that content during lows in Shadowland of which I would not want to start playing the game again during that expansion at any level.
