So many people complain about Twinks in TW, but there’s an actual very simple solution to it: Remove the ability to enter a TW dungeon if your XP is frozen.
Those people who want to have Twinks for BGs and such, fine. Or want a lower level to explore parts of the game on their own terms will be unaffected. The only people affected are the ones holding a character down to “exploit” the scaling in Timewalking.
You can still create new chars, get them to 10-11, and they’ll still be effective - you just have to create more of them when they outgrow their usefulness. I’m not sure what level this happens at, but it can’t be as low as 13.
All that said, I don’t think this is much of a problem. But the solution for those who think it is isn’t banning people, or crazy modifications, it’s just a simple, “everyone who Timewalks gets XP”. And by not letting them queue, as opposed to just giving everyone XP no matter what, you save yourself a lot of grief from people complaining about how their Twink got XP when they didn’t expect it.
Them and the large number of players that actually enjoy having twinks in their group and will be unhappy if your change was implemented. Most importantly, this applies to me
People aren’t being banned for having low level twinks in TW. They’re being banned for taking their low level twinks into TW, exploiting to remove the debuff, and then getting involved in RMT.
A few people have complained. Hardly ever does anyone complain in dungeons, and when someone does, the other people tell him to shut up.
Nice job, you picked some activity that is NO LONGER A THING as some “alternative” activity. I just wanted to clear up the fact that you were deliberately misrepresenting this.
Clearly you do, or you wouldn’t be saying the game needs drastic changes.
Gee, maybe you can convince Blizzard that they should only make game changes they know the overwhelming majority of players will hate. I’m sure they are looking for more employees to alienate players and drive them out of the game.
Nope. But many people do, and are suggesting all kinds of complicated solutions. I’m just suggesting a solution that would be simple and elegant, because I’m a simple and elegant kind of guy.
Also, showing you how much I do BGs, I hadn’t realized they got rid of the tiers in BGs.
I would go for this if they also got rid of the ability to enter dungeons as premades. Which is what the games allows you to do to avoid teaming with people you dont want too. Like twinks. I wish they had an option to que for teams with twinks.
It’s only a handful of people that don’t like it. I’d wager there are more twinks than complainers - I value the twinks more because they’re the ones actually making my runs faster. The haters suggestions so far only result in a longer queue. Ain’t about that!
The entire phenomenon exists SOLELY because of people creating twinks to exploit the system, and to sell boosting. Twinks weren’t created for “fun”, or to “farm”, or for “transmog” like you’re reading on the forums - those are obviously all lies.
Anything outside of TW badges that you need from TW you could just get on a max level toon in the same amount of time, and likely even faster if you have a speed set.
Looks like a clear cut case of people getting correctly banned for deliberate exploits, and for boosting VIA that exploit.
I’ve suggested simply adding a “avoid xpoff characters” option which would apply to any queued content and include level 20 trial characters and level 70 non-expansion characters as well.
The people who don’t care would leave it off, the people who don’t like them would never be grouped with xpoff characters in queued content.
70s in DF epics are extremely powerful in scaled content since they have access to end of expansion ilvl gear. If they broke lowbie twinks they’d probably be the next best thing.
