So, even though they may not work on both 1.12 and 1.13 clients, they used to work in WOW when ran on Windows XP. For some reason, they stopped working in WOW when I upgraded to Windows 7.
But, some other games and programs detect them, so why WOW cannot? Is there a way to make them work, without AutoHotKey remapping?
Older keyboards used to have 2 rows of function keys, F1-F12 as the first row, and F13-F24 as they second row.
Some keyboards also have “fake” f13-F24 keys but I’m assuming OP is referring to the physical keys to use in keybindings as an extra row of abilities.
I don’t know what you mean by “fake”, but my laptop has some “special” keys, for launching the pre-installed apps. But, after uninstalling the apps, the keys work just like physical F13-F24 keys.
that was typewriters, not computer keyboards. And, typewriters didn’t have any F keys.
Fake as in you had to use a special button like alt or control and press a different button to like F1 to get the later F keys.
You must be like 25 or younger cuz when i was a kid, i had a laptop and a desktop that were designed with word processors in mind and the keys were very audible.
What type of keyboard do you use? I have a Logitech keyboard (forgot the model number) It has a row of G keys on the left side of the keyboard that I had to use the logitech software to map properly. If you haven’t done so already maybe check and see if there is any special software or drivers for that model of keyboard.
I have an Apple keyboard with F13 - F19 keys. I typically don’t use them because they are in an inconvenient place on the board. I just tried it - they map fine in WoW if I want to use them. I am using the Apple OS embedded driver.
For my Logitech keyboard I had to set it up to use a key combination like that I wasn’t likey to type such as Control + Alt + F1…2…3 etc and map that to the G key in the Logitech software and then I could keybind that key combination. Of course that would only be the process for the Logitech G series keyboards
unfortunately, Apple OS embedded driver doesn’t run on Windows 10. As I said, it worked in WOW on Windows XP, but not in 7 and later.
I once tried to map alt-F1, alt-F2, etc. I gave up the idea after trying to map alt-F4 in WOW.
but my keyboard doesn’t have that, so I have to map them using AutoHotKey. But, on the other hand, if I map them to, let’s say, Ctrl+Alt+F1, then the game won’t distinguish F16 from ctrl+F16.
I mean I remember those kind of loud keyboards and many still exist. But they didn’t have F13-Fwhatever keys. I’ve never heard of a keyboard that had anything beyond F12.
