Suggestion - Can we add highlighter or colored text and maybe different fonts and dividers to the forums?

Dividers that are colorful, reasonably sized, and artistic could help people organize their thoughts into different sections and reduce eye strain while sifting through people’s feedback and ideas (especially longer posts).

Different colors could also help certain words or paragraphs pop out (it’d help for when you don’t feel like reading the whole posts but want to know what it’s about - the colored buzzwords or paragraphs stand out - either the text could be colored or it could be highlighted with different colors).

Just a thought. You don’t have to do it now but I promise it would help reduce eye strain and save you a lot of time while reading through posts.

There could also be an option to turn it off (or opt in or opt out of it).

We already have ways to do this.

This would greatly increase eye strain.

I meant dividers that art colorful and artistic like these ones, not the standard ones we currently have.

I already mentioned you could opt-in or opt-out of it so you don’t HAVE to use it.

We can already use dividers…

Colors won’t make people use them though.

And we can already choose to highlight words. But people still don’t use them.

People barely use paragraphs. They seem afraid of the enter key.

There are very few people who use the forum syntax at all.

Highlight them in different colors (and it would be something all forumers can do - not just certain Trust levels or tiers).

no. please god. no.

whatever design they have is fine. it doesn’t need to be turned into a horrorshow of different fonts and colors and highlights and comic sans.

there’s a lady at work who uses different font colors to highlight words she thinks are important. it’s infantile and obnoxious. I’d hate to see that kind of stuff here.

Agreed, the forums don’t need to look like the websites of the 90’s.

I don’t want to have to refer to that long post and script and code it with html or whatever just to highlight or color text.

Buttons like the ones we have would be much easier.

But it’s just an idea. If you prefer scrolling through long, boring eye-strain text that’s only one color then that’s fine by me.

(oh wow… here comes another rant… joy…)

Blizzard has just skinned prebuilt forum software, you would need to make this suggestion directly to the developers of Discourse.

Nevermind. Forget I said anything. It was just a suggestion, not a demand. Thank you for your time and replies.

 [Hello World]

Anyway, no. colors are generally bad. Color scheme is as it is for a reason.

Format with line breaks / plain horizontal dividers, collapsible headers, and font sizes and such, if you really need to. This is a forum, not your high school notebook.

They want colored text to be a special indicator of who is posting. Blue for Blizzard, Green for MVPs, and Gold for Community Council.

And even then, there’s no need to randomly color words to highlight them. That’s just annoying.
