Sudden Lag/Loading Screen issues

Hello technically savvy people,

I’m not the most tech-capable person so forgive me if this comes across as a stupid question but suddenly last week my game started acting up. What I’m experiencing is:

  1. Lag at the start of a dungeon or raid boss pull
  2. Excessively long loading screens
  3. 30-45 sec wait to log off or log in

Can anyone offer some advice on how to possibly fix this? My PC is only used for WoW and it’s the only program on it.

All of these sound like they could be related to addons. Specifically addons that trigger when you’re starting encounters. They would also affect the loading and login times. It’s possible a recent update to an addon is causing a problem, or the opposite where an out-of-date addon needs updating. You could try temporarily renaming the addon folder to see if it helps.

Beyond that, if it’s something on the PC, you’d want to include a DxDiag for troubleshooting. But make sure to try the addon things first.

  1. Press Windows Key + R, then type DxDiag and press Enter.
  2. In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
  3. Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save.

Hey there,

Someone in my guild suggested that so I made sure all my addons were updated.

Where is the addon folder and how do I rename it?

Would it also help to uninstall the addons and reinstall them?

My PC works fine otherwise when I’m browsing websites and the like. It’s just the game that started acting wonky.

Update: Must have been an addon. I deleted a bunch that I’m not currently using and game seems to be working ok now. Thanks for you assistance!
