I am currently in Eastern Plaguelands and flames just started shooting out of the ground about 30 minutes ago and lasted for about 5 minutes. I died and was unable to resurrect without instantly dying. Just curious if anyone else experienced this? I don’t think the zone I am in is prone to seismic activity?

During cata deathwing will randomly spawn in a zone and just burn everything

If I remember correctly, you should have gained an achievement for being killed by Death Wing for this. If not, then I guess that would be a bug.
Otherwise, it was one of the features of Cataclysm.
You could simply die for being in a zone that Death Wing randomly targeted.

It’s a bit confusing cause he doesn’t do the shout and sometimes you don’t even die, it just goes dark for a sec and flame pop up and that’s it.
Did you get an achievement?
It’s neat the first time then super annoying and inconvenient. I’m almost positive it lasts until the last phase too.
Play Hardcore Mode.
Then every time is the “first” time.
