The talent states that you will keep at least 10 rage after using execute. However, using execute at lower amounts of rage will result in being left with less than 10 rage. This happens very often and usualyl leads to an empty rage bar
Bumping, maybe with more info.
warrior talent “sudden death” is still bugged. I have 2/2 pts in sudden death and 2/2 in improved execute. When using execute between rage amounts 10 through and including 39, I should always retain 10 rage, however both when using mouseover macros and just the normal spell on your target, I never ended up with at least 10 rage after using the ability. I got the killing blow with execute in all scenarios tested, i have not yet been able to test when i dont get the killing blow. This was just out solo on shoveltusks in howling fjord
I did record a few instances in occulus of execute working or not working.
Target BELOW 20%, sudden death NOT active, 16 rage, execute HITS (noncrit), down to 6 rage, then down to ZERO rage 1 frame later and enemy health updates. Enemy did not die.
Target above 20%, sudden death active, 34 rage, execute CRITS, down to 24 rage, then down to 10 rage 2 frames later and enemy health updates. Enemy did not die. Worked as intended
Target above 20%, sudden death active, 25 rage, execute HITS (noncrit), down to 15 rage, then down to ZERO rage 2 frames later. Enemy did not die. Enemy was a mouseover I think (enemy health did not update).
Target BELOW 20%, sudden death active, 23 rage, execute HITS (noncrit), down to 13 rage, then down to 10 rage 2 frames later and enemy health updates. Enemy did not die. Working as intended
Target was a mouseover BELOW 20%, sudden death NOT active, 15 rage, execute CRITS and KILLING BLOWS mouseover, 1 frame later I’m at ZERO rage.
We dug into this, and we’ve determined that it is not a bug.
The tooltip says: Your melee hits have a 9% chance of allowing the use of Execute regardless of the target’s health state. In addition, you keep at least 10 rage after using Execute.
But it should say: Your melee hits have a 9% chance of allowing the use of Execute regardless of the target’s health state. In addition, you keep at least 10 rage after using a Sudden Death Execute.
We’re looking into updating the tooltip.
Tooltip has been like this for 15 or so years, and it pretty clearly tells you that after using execute you keep rage, and it scales from 3, to 7, to 10 as you rank it up, implying further it intends to modify how an arms warrior execute works. Is there documentation in the data that shows this as some glaring typo and intentional original functionality for it to specifically NOT work from normal executes, despite 0 hinting from the tooltip? Not that original functionality matters a whole lot, as fiery enchant procced deep wounds in 2010 and that was hotifxed instantly in 2022. Additionally we saw lock’s pact get buffed and given QoL changes in 2022, so its not off the table to buff abilities… locks control 3 of the top 5 dps slots and are S+ tier too.
Would help to have a little more info as to why changing a tooltip to reflect the result of an apparent bug is preferred to making the ability reflect the tooltip. As it is we’ve got S+ classes getting buffs for #somechanges and F tier classes getting nerfed.
And what about the much bigger problem of the slam bug?
Whaaaaaaaat they buffed spells?!? Umm… Hey Blizz, you wanna make FF be able to proc clearcasting then like every other spell does? Not that feral isn’t engaging already, but bearweaving is so lame… Would rather just stay in cat and FF every 6 seconds. Oh and yeah you should just fix the ability to the tooltip. Not the other way around
Sudden Death is almost never refunding rage even when the Sudden Death buff is active.
Just delete wrariors from WotLK classic and get it over with.
Meanwhile rogue is doing 70k dps w/ a lvl 60 dagger and you sleep.
I like that Demo locks get buffs and QoL changes with their pet but you see a class in dead last and gotta change the tooltip to make them worse rather than change the class to match the tooltip lol.
