Sudden Crash, Low FPS, and Cinematic Replays

Hello, last night I was playing in Zuldazar when randomly my game crashed (retail). It started to “slow down” with the cursor still moving then finally stopping and nothing responding. I couldn’t alt+tab or alt+f4. I had to hard reboot the PC. Upon restart, my bnet launcher was opening to a blank black screen. I did the recommended steps flushing temp and all other files and did a clean install. Was able to log in then.

Upon login my game gave an error about card acceleration or something not supported, I clicked it off before writing it down (I don’t mess with gpu settings like overlock or anything). I then updated drivers and able to login. When loaded the game was extremely choppy, which it has never been before. I logged on my usual character and it took ages to load. Finally it open to a cinematic of Sargaras(?). After some research I guess this is the new xpac opening? I don’t have it purchased yet, so not sure how that is happening. I was getting about 4 FPS. Usually I have it capped at 60 and it never drops.

I closed the game and read about deleting addon manager and anddons adding “Old” to cache, interface, and WTF. Did this with no resolution. Still have cutscene and extremely slow performance. I then closed the game and when I tried to bring it up again the bnet launcher did the same black screen. I then followed the steps to fix that again, clearing temp files and others suggested. I deleted the cache, interface, and WTF (leaving the ones with “Old”). Then I ran the game client repair.

Logged in and all the same issues persist. When I log into a character that isn’t level 70 I don’t get the Sargaras cinematic but the game is still extremely slow. I uninstalled the game and the flushed all the temp, appdata, localappdata, and program data of anything blizzard or Battle.net.

It was very late at this point so I haven’t been able to reinstall on this (windows) machine. I will attempt this tonight and will edit post if it resolves.

I will also have access to my second (windows) PC tonight and will be able to test if it’s better on that machine.

I am still looking for some input about what could be happening here. I thought maybe my gpu died, but the fans run, mhz are stable, and other games still run fine. It also wouldn’t explain the persistent issues after clearing files and running repairs, or the sudden presence of this cinematic bug. I know this cinematic issue is one that’s been happening to many people lately.

Please help!

Edit:

Update - Clean wow install did nothing to help. Extremely slow loading screen, cinematic still plays, and fps is between 2-4.

I also reinstalled Diablo 4 out of curiosity to test performance. It also runs at 4 fps?

I uninstalled all nvidia programs and drivers and did a fresh install of those. No resolution.

What could be happening here?

I was black screening and it turned out my FPS was hitting like 400 and was overheating my card. So I turned on VSync and capped it at 60 FPS. No more crashes, but the VSync turns off now and then by itself, no clue why. So I check it every day
