Sucking at single target dps

Good day guys I have a enhance shaman alt that is ilevel 619 and I suck at single target dps.

I can dps just fine in mythic plus but in single target situations I only get around 817k dps on nexus princess.

I was using the elemental blast build and I just dont understand what I am doing wrong. I follow priority list and when I ascendence I use doom winds after I wind strike once.

I will say though it seems my ascendance damage is very low compared to other shammies and I was wondering if there is a way to get more tempest procs while im in ascendance because sometimes I go an entire ascendance without a tempest proc

Quick question. Do you hard cast tempest procs during ascendance or are you allowing ascendance to cast them for you? Remember thay if you use wind strike during tempest your tempest will be hard capped to to five stacks and be much weaker.

im letting them cast for me but when I run out of windstrike I would cast lighting bolt and tempest when I have malestorm available

Pulling your most recent heroic Kyveza log using the armory you linked in another thread, I noticed the following (on mobile otherwise it would be easier to assess):

  • I don’t think you’re playing EB correctly at all, given the vast amount vs tempest + LB. Also it looks like you’re just firing both off before you even enter Ascendance. Make sure you’re only using it at 4+ dogs when tempest isn’t up as a spender. If that isn’t an extremely comfortable process for you, I’d suggest just running Tempest Strikes cause you’re going to end up losing value using EB incorrectly

  • lots of LL and FrS casts, not a single Ice Strike. The first two buttons I mentioned here are practically worthless in this build, take another look at the prio for ST

  • it doesn’t look like you have embellishments? (edit: nvm, you have one but are still missing the other)

  • you’re casting CL in single target and I have no idea why. You keep priming thorims to CL doing this as well, which is tanking your ascendance damage bc it’s sending CLs instead of LBs

I could look further but these are all pretty major. You need more time at a dummy looking over the prio list, simply put

Thank you that is helpful, I also realized I dont think I had windfury weapon or flame tongue weapon on the entire night I was doing the raid. I think I am going to drop elemental blast because its kinda complicated to use and instead go with the passive talents for simplicity. I think I got too used to casting chain lighting cuz of mythic + and some times when I tempest and the tempest doesnt change into lighting bolt I just send out a chain lighting thinking its better to consume the free cast rather than hold on to it. As for the ice strike I thought I was using it but im not sure if I did use it or not on that fight. Also I m not sure what the LL or Frs is could you spell this one out for me I’m not familiar with shaman spells.

Could you expand a bit more on what your saying here? You mean that when ascendance auto cast tempest for you, it only eats up 5 maelstrom? So should you avoid that talent that auto casts it for you?

You can get a weak aura to let you know what Thorims is primed to (what will auto cast with windstrike), although most don’t account for the new behavior where it will auto-prime to CL if Tempest hits 2+ targets

If you’re talking about Arc Discharge, I would encourage you to forget it exists and play the priority as normal. It’s not worth thinking about.

Lava Lash and Frost Shock are LL and FrS. They both represent the absolute bottom of your ST prio (FrS more than LL). Ideally you don’t have many casts of this if any at all. Although I think 0 casts of LL might be a bit rare.

Yes, thorims will only use up to 5 msw when it auto casts a spender

No, it’s quite powerful and bumps up the baseline damage of spenders/tempest. You just want to (ideally) manually send tempest at 10msw

Like the guy said above, you definitely want to keep the talent but youll want to have a weak auta on to know when tempest is coming. You will get a ton of tempest procs during ascendance but manually casting is the only way to use full maelstrom stacks.

Its not a big deal because during asendance the only thing you should be pressing is doom winds right after you pop ascendance, feral wolves(if you talented for ability), windstrike, and tempest manually when it procs.
