I used to be a rogue main back in MOP/WOD/Legion and have always enjoyed subtlety the most, I’m not too fond of poisons nor the pirate swashbuckler playstyle of Outlaw. When Ambush was replaced with ShadowStrike back in Legion I decided to switch to Assassination and wait to see what they’d do to the specialization, personally i despise ShadowStrike for it is not aligned with what i would expect of a subtle playstyle.
Changing the way a specialization works after literal years of it being created does not make any sense to me, how is a jump attack subtle? It is not !
I ended up dropping the game and every once in a while I come back to this forums and WowHead to see if anything has been done to this issue, I doubt they’re going to add the positional mechanics back to the spec (Even tho I enjoy it a lot), but I would like at least to change the appearence of ShadowStrike. I’ve always been someone that prefers having a main over multiple ALTs and every time I come back to the game I try some other classes and specializations, I just cant seem to find fulfillment in this game after spending thousands of hours farming things like the Insane title, Legendary daggers and even a Cutting Edge achievment on my rogue, playing something else feels like a betrayal at this point.
I noticed they added a bunch of different pistol shot glyphs to Outlaw (Meh!), and I hope the same can be done to ShadowStrike, every time i try to open an opponent and my character starts jumping and spazzin all over my screen it saddens me, I remember how I enjoyed positioning myself at the back of bosses in HFC and literally bursting almost 50% of Heroic Reavers health with my soul capacitor, people wouldn’t see me in the battlefield but they would deffinitely see me at the top of the damage ladder, that is subtlety. Nowadays all i see is a green orc Jumping in the middle of every other melee dps, I just can’t understand how one would think this is subtle.
That’s it, I just wanted to vent out about something I really enjoyed that became the reason I can’t seem to enjoy the game anymore, other than classic raiding in retail feels bland whenever i play other classes, monks don’t hit the spot for me, I guess this is how it feels to be an Alpha Widow.
