Subtlety Keybinds/UI

I’m having a hard time swapping from ezpz mode assassination pve to sub pvp when it comes to my UI and keybinds - it seems sub has so many abilities it needs to be able to hit ASAP especially in pvp; how do you sub pvp’ers bind your keys and set up your UI? All the youtubers ai watch have the messiest looking UI’s.

I’m more interested in the main abilities as opposed to cloak, vanish etc (C for Cloak, V for vanish is my go to)

1 Shadowstrike/Backstab
2 Evis
3 Cheap Shot
4 Nightblade
5 DFA or SecretTech (If talented)

Comes to mind, but Dance, Cold Blood, Marked for Death, Kidney, and I just get overwhelmed by how many abilities I need to hit as opposed to the 4 buttons Sin needs >;(

Any tips? What’s absolute priority to be able to hit? I have a razer mouse with the 12 buttons and such also

I have a 12 button mouse too so this is what I do

Q - shadowstrike/backstab
1 - cheap shot
2 - shuriken storm
3 - night blade
4 - evis
5 - secret tech/dfa is using
E - kidney shot
Z - stealth
V - vanish
C - sap
F - Glad medallion(i played mobas so im used to cc removal on F)
G - blind
S - crimson vial
R - feint
Shift R - evasion
Shift E - racial(i think, idk im in vacation rn so i havent played in days
Shift C - cloak
Shift F - smoke bomb

I mainly use 9 out of the 12 buttons on my mouse, so its a 3x3

Imagine they are laid out like this
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9 With 3,6,9 being the ones close to me

5 is shadow dance(but I put it on the stealth bar, so while im in stealth or under the effects of shadow dance, it turns into cold blood)
8 is kick
4 is shadowstep
7 is vanish/cloak if I need to use both in one macro
1 is symbols
2 is marked for death
3 is on use trinket
9 is shadow blades
6 is shadow dance/symbols/mfd in one macro but i dont use that much anymore cuz of the azerite trait giving combo points

The way I thought about it is, but attacks/stuns on the left hand keyboard. Put modifiers like symbols/mfd/shadow dance on my mouse. Put reactionary buttons like kick/step on the mouse. Then I just kinda filled in places as needed.

Hope this helps. But tbh its whatever you find comfortable so test around with it

I use a Logitech MMO mouse.

In Stealth I use these:

  1. Shadowstrike
  2. Backstab
  3. Cheap Shot
  4. Shadowstep
  5. Shuriken Toss
  6. Blind
  7. Stealth Character Sap
    Click Mouse Wheel is Kick

Out of Stealth:

  1. Nightblade
  2. Backstab
  3. Eviscerate
  4. Kidney Shot
  5. Shuriken Toss
  6. Blind
    Shift 1 is Shuriken Storm

Everything else is bound to keys or the 8-12 mouse buttons.

It’s cool to see how other people do it. Good Luck

0 is focus blind, S-1 is sap spam macro, V is shadow step to healer. I also use a lot of mod macros for kick and kidney. But from the pic you can see from my stealth bar i put dfa/secret tech on 8. I would like to see your assassin binds so I can get more of an idea of how you bind. It is all bout what you’re comfortable with.

A mouse with 16 buttons helps.

I use mouse1 on my 12 button mouse as shift, as I can’t stand using the actual shift on the keyboard. My binds for sin were:

1 - Mutilate
2 - Eviscerate
3 - Rupture
4 - Garrote
5 - Crimson Tempest

S1 - Toxic Blade
S2 - Marked for Death

R - Cheap Shot
SR - Sap
T - Shadowstep
ST - Sprint
F - Kick
SF - Kidney Shot
G - Gladiator’s Medallion
SG - Smoke Bomb
Z - Tricks of the Trade
SZ - Distract
X - Evasion
SX - Feint
C - Cloak of Shadows (close to Vanish for quick cloak + vanish)
SC - On use Trinket
V - Vanish
SV - Vendetta (V for Vendetta lol)
B - Crimson Vial
SB - Health Stone

Why don’t you have Q/E bound? They are the easiest to reach haha. But sub is kinda of a joke atm, and is much harder to play than sin. I would just play sin, get a feel for the class. Then swap once you get a full grasp of it.

But If I were you just
1 - Backstab/Shadow strike
2 - evis
3 - NB
4- Symbols
5 - DFA/Secret Tech

S1 - cold blood?
Sv - Blades
Z - Dance?

general strategy theorized years ago was (1) sequencing, and (2) focus-on-shift binding (BIG PICTURE – max fluidity):

(1) sequencing – place abilities that typically go together either in the same locus of binds or in the same macro

  • same locus: S - mark for death and Q - kidney shot
  • same macro: F - activates shadow dance and tries for shadowdance sap

(2) focus-on-shift – using focus frames and macros, placing most abilities that could be used on a focus target on the shift-modifier in the same macro

  • kidneyshot on Q, focus kidneyshot on shift-Q
  • shadowdance sap on F, focus shadowdance sap on shift-F
  • mfd on S, which allows holding shift while pressing S+Q together to focus mfd and focus kidney
  • big picture – find binds that have most fluidity for sequences

rare keybind i’ve found literally game-tilting for 2-step shadowdance is mouseover shadowstep:

  • allows instantaneous xy-axis and sometimes z-axis positioning swaps, which can get you out of trouble really fast (juke people around corners/off ledges/etc) and other wacky sht

keep it simple, focus on dance fundamentals, and practice in unrated bgs (which tbh is the most fun you can find on retail since 2014)

Practice is the only way to get better at sub. Its not like assassination where you press 3 buttons like a ret paladin and nuke someone.

This is for the high IQ lads.

As a tip to help you memorize keybinds I’d recommend putting combo point finishers on both your stealth and normal action bars, using the same keybind. For instance my eviscerate is on 5. I have eviscerate on 5 in both stealth and normal. This will eliminate missing finishers when you need them.

Good luck friend!
