I’ve been really enjoying Subtlety this expansion, it feels like it’s living up to the flavor expected: extremely high burst and very low output outside of the burst. However, one thing that frustrates me a little (particularly with a couple of the current raid bosses) is the utter lack of Cleave in the spec. The AoE is fantastic, but since Black Powder does nearly exactly 50% of Eviscerate, you only ever break even on 2 targets and 3 targets still lags behind most of other specs. I feel it’s really not that hard for them to fix it, either, thematically and a balance-wise. Give us a talent called something like Bouncing Blade which replaces Black Powder, make it do maybe 65-70% what Eviscerate does to a target then bounce to up to 2 other targets. That would give us a reasonable choice between cleave and pure AoE for fights where one would be preferable over the other.
Where would it go in the tree? Well that I’m less sure about, but I think there’s a couple decent options that wouldn’t disrupt much. It could be a choice node with Gloomblade since no one uses it anyway. Or with Silent Storm. Or hell, replace the choice node of Night Terrors / Terrifying Pace with it, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone use that. Or even if that doesn’t satisfy you, just make Find Weakness a spec passive and replace it with a choice between Black Powder and this.
