Subt spec blows assassin spec out of the water. Easy

More control
More damage
Morenburst.

What does assassin have going for it

A better mortal strike effect, a ranged slow, consistent damage, ability to kill plate targets, a silence just off the top of my head

Better slow, better split pressure, more forgiving, meaning can kill outside of cd. Control for sub is only good if you have the proper setup. Meaning you must play perfectly otherwise it won’t be played at maximum potential. With stun reduction stacking, sub effectiveness can be substantially reduced while assassin aren’t as reliant on CC to kill.

Its funny you say that becasue almost everytime i face a sub in twos or threes I counter them so hard.

So is not a meta class but we offer burst and sustain which is pretty good in threes or twos with a healers. Its not easy and mistakes are punished but its viable and if you get your dots out you can end the game #1 dmg often and still have a fair amount of utility.

At least 1 out of 3 things you said is definitely incorrect. Sub is not more damage. Also, burst damage has multiple factors with it as well. Intensity, frequency, and predictability. Sub burst intensity is not that great. It is quite frequent, but very predictable. You see CS, you know it’s coming. Whereas assassin can kill you through passive pressure and less predictable burst.

Assassination has way better pressure at the sacrifice of crowd control. It’s better In RMPala.

I would play Assassination more if it was more direct damage oriented instead of DoTs. DoT melee class doesn’t feel right to me.

I can play either spec and die just as quickly.

I think Pika played Asssassination in the tournament as well.

Damage is very important to Rogue design in PVP. Plus, a lot of classes and specs like WW monk have just as good or even better control. This spills over in PVE where other classes and specs offer just as good or better utility like a UH DK.

That is why Rogues need damage buffs and to be given back their core tools (eg Smokebomb).

Unpruning Shiv and poisons was STEP 1 of the great master plan.

STEP 2 is to see tools like Smoke Bomb, Dismantle and Garrote returned to other specs.

1 ss and a 2min burst cd instead of 30 sec. I still play it because its not balanced around MA

I’ll give you this one

These two, however, are slowly being eroded by higher health pools and higher versatility via higher ilevel gear. Even with MMA legendary.

They are different play styles. Both are viable.

Lets not forget about getting CC’d every time you go to do damage as sub. Assassin doesn’t have to worry about that. One could say you could be CC’d during vendeta. Alas, that is the glory of it though. You can cause enough threat that enemys run out of CD’s and DR, and can be executed from near full health alone from an assassin in two globals. You sacrifice ability to escape or gap close by playing assassin though, so your strategy changes to focusing on targets/swapping to targets nearby/less mobile. Assassin also brings garrote silence, combined with kick and kidney can result in a caster being locked out for 14 seconds of kidney shots 20 second cooldown. With restealth and a vanish, over the duration of 40 seconds the caster may only be able to cast for a total of 12 seconds. add in another teammates kick and another stun, and a dispel if they happen to get CC off, can pretty much shut them down if their team doesn’t support them.

Oh and sub doesn’t have THAT much more control. People often forget assassin has subterfuge too.
