Do we know yet if an active subscription is needed for classic with bfa purchased? Or can someone just open a free starter account in august and add a subscription to it to access classic? (I believe adding a sub to a starter account let’s you level to 110)
An active subscription is required, but you don’t need to buy BfA.
Basically one sub gives you access to both Classic and retail up to Legion. The game doesn’t have a purchase price anymore except for the latest expansion. They removed that a while back.
So if someone were to start a new account for example, all they would need to do is create the account and pay for a subscription and you will have access to both retail (up to Legion), and Classic. If they go the route they have in the past, once the next expansion launches BfA will then also be free.
