I see a lot of posts about new hero classes or new class types and added class types to races.
I’d like to see the addition of subclasses more than just adding new classes.
It would allow you to build on the characters you’ve already created instead of having to start over.
It can add a lot more unique ways to play your current class and interact within the group and world environment.
It would allow for many more customization options for each character.
It would make stagnant classes and specs immediately new and exciting.
I would limit the types of subclasses available to each main class to prevent redundancies.
Some subclasses I have come up with:
Bard: uses music and rhythm to add and enhance abilities. Provide support to group. has a system of rhythm sequences which when performed correctly provide individual and group bonuses. Added weapon options of musical instruments.
Main classes available to: Priest, Mage, Monk, Druid, Demon Hunter, Hunter, Shaman, Warrior, Paladin
Sage: Harnesses ley powers to infuse attacks with magic. Alters ranged and melee classes to provide bonus magic damage. Gives more spell options to classes. Can teleport.
Main classes available to: Priest, Warlock, Monk, Rogue, Hunter, Shaman, Warrior
Necromancer: Master of the powers of death. Can resurrect and summon allies.
Main classes available to: Priest, Warlock, Rogue, Hunter, Demon Hunter, Warrior, Paladin, Death Knight
Elementalist: Harness the power of elements to enhance abilities and support group. Can summon elementals for various purposes.
Main Classes available to: Mage, Warlock, Monk, Druid, Demon Hunter, Hunter, Warrior, Death Knight (Summon army of elementals)
Knight: Enhances armor level of certain classes. Bonus to solo combat. Mounted combat options. Can defend/intercept damage from allies.
Main Classes available to: Mage, Hunter, Rogue, Warrior, Paladin, Death Knight
Shapeshifter/Sorcerer: Transforms the user to support the group or provide specialized abilities. Can transform other players and group for beneficial or negative effects.
Main classes available to: Mage, Warlock, Monk, Rogue, Druid, Demon Hunter, Hunter, Shaman
Ranger: Ranged combat specialist. Specialized tracking abilities. Reduces groups detection range from enemies (world pvp example: reduces range at which enemies can see you, so your group can see enemies in the distance before them).
Main classes available to: Mage, Warlock, Monk, Rogue, Demon Hunter, Druid, Hunter, Warrior, Paladin, Death Knight
Thief: Added and enhanced stealth abilities, Can provide some stealth options to support group. Added survivability.
Main classes available to: Priest, Mage, Warlock, Monk, Demon Hunter, Hunter
Brawler: Close combat specialist. Options to alter ranged abilities to melee attacks.
Main classes available to: Priest, Mage, Warlock, Hunter (This is how survival spec should exist…), Paladin, Death Knight.
Weapon Master: Able to wield more weapons in unique ways. Improved weapon damage and utility. Can throw weapons for certain ranged abilities.
Main classes available to: Monk, Rogue, Demon Hunter (hello scythes), Hunter (Also how survival should work…), Warrior, Paladin, Death Knight.
Merchant: Can hire mercenaries. Supports groups with enhanced armor, weapons and auras. Can provide group transportation. Can provide direct to location flight options for group members from Flight paths. Can summon group members using flight paths. Can create temporary flight path hubs in certain areas.
Main classes available to: Any? Cause why not…
This would make the game have a better focus on support roles and abilities to move away from the current meta cycles that force a lot of player class changes from what people would prefer to play.
I’d recommend a new system (since they love systems so much) that adds a combat multiplier or bonus system that increases output for executing successful rotations and correctly following mechanics so that people place less importance on adherence to the meta to allow more unique specs and talent choices versus the mandatory optimization builds.
So here it all is. Rip it to shreds.

Someone who has wanted to be a Battle-Mage since Scarlet Monastery.
