I’m not sure if you’ve tested on PTR yet but the sub 4 set is actually very strong at the moment. However, I suspect it will have the consequence of forcing us to pool Shadow Dance to double dance every time so we can benefit from Lingering Shadow during a dance window.
The spec is totally forgotten about. It’s a skin suit. There is nothing new or innovative about it. There haven’t been any flavorful changes in idk how long, countless dead talents, worthless abilities. Both hero trees are depressing.
So idc about numbers when it’s not fun to play
Sub in its current iteration is fun to play but if you mean depth where you can do more then that maybe true if you are a veteran Rogue.
I think the changes with Lingering Shadow are aimed at addressing that but as I always maintained it should be a choice.
People complain sub does no damage outside of dance.
This is probably a safe way to test the other parts of sub rogue.
Huh? What other parts of Sub are you referring to?
There is only Backstab and Storm. With the planned changes there won’t be any meaningful dmg outside dance as they’re gutting our energy and combo points regeneration by roughly 30-40%.
The only change this brings is that short term dance burst, currently our only niche, is going away. Seems like BFA all over again for Sub.
A small minority of sub rogues who probably don’t do anything beyond WQ, and don’t understand this means making dance windows weaker, which will only make the spec weaker.
Any kind of burst is always better than a flat damage curve.
I think it is a test too and to see if it can be blended into the spec long term. We are thinking in a similar way on this one.
I like the spec for the burst windows. I don’t want a smooth profile. That is what the other specs are for
-Overall rotation is weak
-Hero talents are boring, don’t change playstyle at all
-New tier set neuters the rotation further
Reworking Deathstalker is all they have to do. Make DS mark a stacking dot that rewards optimizing burst windows. Anything.
Hilariously, they are just now getting to fixing secret technique apex interaction.

The smoother DPS profile shift for patch 12.1 is a result of the ease of access to Shadow Dance. This happened to Legion Sub too.
