In terms of a ST raid fight you would simply use it any time its off cd instead of eviscerate, as in this environment its just a stronger finisher. On the list you have this would mean it would take spot 7.
Why not? It hits a lot harder than eviscerate. It does aoe, but it’s not an aoe only attack as it does it’s damage to the primary target.
Not arguing. Asking if I missed something about it, since when I check details after a very short encounter, it is the top spell on the list single target, by a long shot, pointing towards using it on cooldown with shadow dance and symbols of death, which it usually lines up with every time.
The question was about where it fits in the rotation.
But now I at least understand you meant the talent, not the ability when you answered the op question. From my sims and practice, the two talents were so close that it was a matter of personal preference which to choose. In anything where aoe may exist, such as a dungeon, secret technique was better.
Remember when this community maintained its own websites for rogue play? I do. Years ago we had our own class dedicated sims that drastically out performed any others. Sites like Shadow Craft and Shadow Panther use to be staples here, and garbage like icy veins or ask mr robot and generic sites like that were regarded as a pitiful joke.
This is what happens when a class is dumbed down so far that frost death knights re-roll to it, and demon hunters are considering it.
Just to be clear, Shadowcraft wasn’t a sim, it was a model. And it didn’t outperform Simcraft. It wasn’t supposed to. It was intended for quickly checking if gear was an upgrade. The amount of times we had to say “the DPS number that Shadowcraft gives you isn’t intended to be accurate. It is only intended to tell you if whatever change you made is an upgrade”.
It died because it was such a hassle with the way Blizzard made gearing where every single item had a bajillion different item numbers because of titanforging and gem procs and all that jazz.
Also for any single target boss with an add phase your best bet is to stay single target and let ranged and melee with better natural cleave handle the adds.
You missed the point entirely but that’s alright. Shadowcraft has been effectively dead for a long time now due to the quality of whoever running it letting things slide drastically.
Game design as you pointed out is a contribution to this, but most sim sites are also little more than a guide on how to gear under ideal conditions, and no one sensible has ever considered them anything other than that. The point I was making is that they were superior years ago to what is present now, and the discord rogue channel is far superior to anything presented on these modern sim sites because they are all way too corporate now days and honestly don’t have the same sort of passion and care they once had when they were fresh and new and privately owned and operated by real fans that actually cared.
