Sub needed for Beta?

Considering the recent developments regarding a “classic beta” being added to the CDN and many people wanting to be invited to the beta, it brings up the question: Will you need to have a current wow sub to have a chance at getting invited to the beta?

I got into the beta for BfA with no sub so I would guess yes.

Also, pretty sure you don’t even need a sub to get on the test servers as well.

Edit : Hearing others talk, I would say ‘no’.

I’ve gotten into six WoW betas. For 5 of them I didn’t have an active sub.

Nope. Just have to be opted in is the only requirement.

even if I get an invite I don’t think I would play it (even if I could, which I can’t). I want to save my hype for release

I don’t think I could resist playing if I receive an invite.

That’s ridiculous. All the betas I wanted to be in and non subbed people get in. I guess its their way of trying to get returning players? so dumb.

If it makes you feel any better, I’ve been opted in since BC, didn’t quit until 2/3 through MOP and have yet to get ANY beta invites regardless of being subbed or not. I’m not holding my breath that I’ll get one this time either, although it would be friggin’ awesome if I did.

I’ve been subbed and had a beta invite to everything since TBC.

Probably not needed for Classic Beta. I suspect if you ever had a license, you might be on a list, as so it might lure players back to play the “new” content.

Pixelated avatar. I’m really a tauren. Lol

Hmmm.

I can see you have a fair point, but lets put that into the context of Classic WoW:

-This whole project spawned from the community who (at one point or another) became dissatisfied with the retail version of the game and wanted an option for a Vanilla client.

Those people are the voice who relentlessly argued for a Classic WoW. It stands to reason those players would not be active subscribers of the retail game yet Classic exists for their return.

So with that in mind, why should an active subscription be a qualifier for BETA access to a game designed for those who don’t want to play retail?

Read it again. Im solely talking about retail and people getting beta invites for retail in the past who weren’t subbed and I was who didn’t get an invite. Nothing to do with classic. I never knew non subbed players were getting invites.

From a business perspective, this makes no sense. Specifically because a large number of people who want classic are not subbed because BFA is not their cup of Tea. Myself included.

Literally nobody knows this, as a beta hasn’t even officially been announced.

You don’t understand what I’m sayin at all. Im not, I repeat, NOT talking about a classic beta
