Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to see Sub getting some love after being “eh” for so long, but seriously? It’s so boring outside of Shadow Dance. Backstab does 0 damage. Can you please buff Mut so we have a spec that can do some sustained damage, instead of waiting on a CD to pop so we have output for 8 seconds? I am sure I am not the only one that misses Mut being a viable option.

Having Shadow Dance up so often means Blizz had to gut the spec outside of Dance to compensate. Another reason why Dance should go back to being one charge on a static one minute cooldown, and Gouge and Hemorrhage should return baseline.

I don’t think I would call it more engaging, but I’m not a fan of any class/spec that relies on cooldown windows to do damage. It’s the reason I stopped playing shadow priest–originally a consistent dps spec with no real dps cooldowns at all, unless you count Shadowfiend. >.> You could always count on dealing consistent, moderate damage.
Going from mut to sub is a lot like going from WoD spriest to Legion spriest. Are you doing more damage? Hell yeah. Is it fun outside of your cooldowns? Hell no.

You know, I think the problem is just that people are too used to Shadowstrike now. And all the perks with it.
If you compare Backstab to other specs. It’s pretty in-line, I think.
Backstab’s tooltip says 762. +20% behind would be 914.4. For 35 energy.
Sinister Strike says 784 for 45 energy. But, does have a 35% chance to strike again.
Mutilate says 887 for 50 energy. But, generates 2 combo points.
I don’t know. Maybe Backstab should be vastly more powerful than the others?
Regarding backstab it REALLY needs to feel like you’re actually doing something like hitting from behind should do 100% more damage honestly… because outside if dance, Sub is nothing.

If you’re dance uptime is that low you’re doing something wrong. BS is your tool

If you play Kyrian and ER in your opener, between backstab + Shadow Techniques, you should be able to hit a 7 CP Snd or Rupture to get sustained going once you’re done Dancing
Shiv + SnD them to keep them from kiting if you’re on the offensive, rupture if you’re gonna run for a reset.
I am not bashing Sub, by any means. I actually enjoy Sub, to some degree. I just want another option. I have always enjoyed the dot management play style of Mut. I am not asking for Mut to be the alpha spec, once again, I am just asking for it to be viable. For the people saying it is viable, you obviously haven’t seen the current DPS graphs for both PvE and PvP. It only works if you have the proper lego, and in niche situations. That doesn’t make it viable, it makes it cheesy.
That applies to all specs. If you don’t have proper leggos you aren’t doing anything for damage.
I wouldn’t say that Sub is boring - just different from what you are used to.
I am quite enjoying playing sub this time around, as the last few expansions I have really had no option but to play Assassination, so it still feels like a breath of fresh air to me.
I think you will garner a more positive response to buffs for your desired spec if you didn’t try to downplay or tear down a spec that many people enjoy that has long had its time on the shelf.
