expecting players to consistently be able to play around duel is pretty unfair just delete the spell PLEASE
I even did it on my warlock last night with a shadowburn in the turtle animation. Stopcast bolt when turtle alert came up and shadowburned. That’s not latency or a spell in flight. Hunter died to the shadowburn.
let’s see it, i’d love to be wrong
The burst and control are kind of necessary for the spec. The problem is that they are also extremely hard to pin down and punish with too much reset potential in their kit. Just talking sub here, ofc.
Then buff sin rogue then. The 5% buff it just got is nothing.
This is always the cycle of sub rogue. At full strength, it has frequent top tier burst and control in its dance windows combined with ample outs to escape gos on itself between burst windows. Long term, it really can’t keep all three, because that’s a spec with no legitimate weakness.
The easiest knob to tune is the burst damage, so after so many weeks of it being provably too good, it’s burst gets nuked from orbit and it becomes a stunbot that still doesn’t die and locks the other team down all match, but depends on having another high-damage partner that can reliably provide lethal damage in its various go windows. This is understandably not a fun spec to play in shuffle because it has lost the majority of its agency in actually succeeding.
They need to reevaluate what they actually want the spec to do and start looking at some of the buttons its gained over the years. Rogue in general lost fewer things going into the great pruning of legion and has gained as many things back as the rest of the game since then. It would be easier to balance the base dance control/burst kit in tandem with the base rogue buttons (stealth, blind, vanish, etc) in the absence of things like shadowy duel that add yet another layer to the already strong rogue kit.
I think various stealth mechanics could also be looked at. Namely, I think it’s time to reconsider whether rogue still needs enough range on sap to use it on things standing in aoe/flare, and whether openers should still be guaranteed with subterfuge when you do catch the rogue in stealth. Having the rogue passively move faster in stealth could also be looked at as well.
