Im tired. Trickster is the meta still. It’s not fun. The entire tree can be summarized “You are an outlaw rogue now”.
Seriously. It’s just passive blade flurry with some semi-rng eviscerate buffs. I reiterate. It’s not fun. Death stalker, while being much more enjoyable, is a meme. Both styles center around “wait for your super duper eviscerate”. The trees should be able to replace SnD, which should be reworked as an outlaw only thing
Deathstalker concept is inherently good but needs a rework. Darkest night should be a debuff applied by sectec/kingsbane giving a small window vs just an end of loop dopamine boost. Darkest night debuff should Keep the existing amp on next evisc/envenom, cause spenders consume 2 marks during, all marks do 100% more damage and cleave, poison/shadow tech proc increased dramatically.
Marks should stack MUCH higher. Individual Marks should be applied by builders, with emphasis on building them outside of dance/kingsbane windows. Premed and improved garrote should apply like 10 marks with a small cd on the effect.
Blizz my open offer to be freelance dev stands btw

For PVP Deathstalker still has an edge because with today’s patch you can move the stacks with the new marked for death. But Trickster and Cloud Cover will be strong in PVE and PVP now no doubt.
I personally liked Trickster when it first came out but it was so under powered that it wasn’t worthy trying to keep pushing forward for mediocre results.
Today’s patch really brings up Trickster and hopefully we see some nice changes to FB and Deathstalker moving forward too.

Hero trees are a failure to me. They were sold as flavor, and they’ve ended up as…well…not just flavor. They aren’t well balanced, and they aren’t even flavorful. Deathstalker I like in theory, but I am not at all a fan of having MfD back with an energy cost just to be able to swap the mark around.
The mark should just work. It’s tuned to “just work.” Having mechanics for a flavor component just doesn’t make sense. Kill it and incorporate what is good right into the specs and dump it, imho.
Glyphs were a much better concept for adding flavor anyways. There’s some cool stuff here with hero talents. But it kinda just feels silly to only have like 3 choice nodes out of the whole thing. It’s practically all passives, and doesn’t really succeed in adding much for rogues like Deathknights or Warlocks (the real winners of Hero talents).

I like the idea of dramatic playstyle altering hero trees. Trickster is honestly depressing
I don’t like any of the rogue hero talents really. Deathstalker has the best concept but is like a worse reapers mark. Sub is too simple now and neither hero talent adds any gameplay changes .

I agree completely hero talents arnt even remotely balanced nor do most of them give anymore thematic appeal one direction or another. You do have some outliers like warlocks that do have some that look and feel diff but those are really rare.
I’d personally just get rid of them or make them like others have said more of a glyph system that they don’t change the specs core rotation etc so blizz can just balance the normal talent trees as intended, but the change the aesthetic of the spec think things like the green fire for warlock.
But eh what do I know I’m not a dev

I wouldn’t be upset if all the Hero trees got canned and redone. The flavors/aesthetics are pretty weak.

Deathstalker was so easy to get right. Literally just make it heavily focused on plague dots that then interact with our existing kits for big direct damage. There was no need for the dumb marks, and even if you consider those fine the entire kit is disjointed. Its the result of people working on a class that they dont care for nor play.
