Stutter...stutter..stutter stutter stutter

Most of what you said is your computer running it not blizzard servers. Lag can be from blizzard servers or internet providers.

Could this be a DX12 vs DX11 issue?

I haven’t played much since the patch hit but in the short while I’ve played I saw no stuttering, and I left the graphics engine set to its default of DX12, but I know some people had switched it to DX11 for some reason or another. Wouldn’t surprise me if the DX12 engine is what’s getting development focus, with DX11 falling to the wayside and developing bugs like this.

I have an amd 5800x3d and an rtx 3070 ti, I am getting stutter too. I average 165 fps, and in crazy 40 man Bgs I still get min 40 fps. That stutter is annoying.

It could be drivers that need updating on your computer, I know windows can cause those issues too.

my drivers both on windows and my graphics card driver are both fully up to date, have checked.

Like I’m soloing Iron Docks right now for iron horde scraps for old mog items and i’m getting stutter as i run around, rounding mobs up. I’m at half settings at 300 FPS with shadows on low and I have a system capable of getting 160 FPS on ultra everything or 80 FPS with ray traced shadows.

Ridiculous.

Everything is up to date, I religiously check any time there’s a new update for any game I play. Maybe it could be comcast.

The other thing I noticed was uncapped background fps caused some stutter on mine, it’s mostly gone now. Try that. Putting fps similar to your monitor out? Just to try

Yea, I did some comparison testing. I set Wrath Classic and 10.0 prepatch clients both to all lowest or disabled settings to eliminate hardware bottlenecks. I turned on frame rate count and just stood and spun the camera. In Wrath Classic frame rate just sat pegged around 300 FPS with at least 50 people around Stormwind auction house. Same settings on 10.0, with maybe 20 people around VoS AH, stationary 120 fps, spinning camera reduced FPS to 20-50. Something feels terribly wrong in WoW right now.

For now I too have turned my settings down to “Good” across the board. This is either a temp fix, or I’m not playing DF. It’s just a wow reskin anyway.

Well that’s not exactly possible at least with my settings on half because I’m getting 300+ FPS and the maximum you can set yours to in WoW settings is 200. I’ve bumped my settings back up to average 180 and i’ve set my FPS max to that. Doubt it has any impact though.

Also to whoever says this is “loading new objects that are new from pre patch” maybe in some zones but I’m in Warlords of Draenor instanced content with zero other people around and still getting stuttering and I know others are too.

It is absolutely some gremlin introduced with new code from DF coding that is having an issue hiccuping somewhere in the ram or memory while playing.

There’s a setting that people on the forums/reddit are using to correct this issue.

Is /console GxAllowCachelessShaderMode 0
then /reload

Helped me a lot, the FPS drops is almost all gone now

I had poor stuttering and now it’s minimal. It only happened after the prepatch. It’s just a thought.

I haven’t had any FPS drop just stuttering, but it seems on reddit it has helped a lot of people. I tried it just now and restarted will play for a bit and see how it goes.

Hope it helps.

Please post how it goes. If it works I may uncap my FPS and play at higher setting again.

Speaking of stuttering and frames per sec. Why for the love of all things holy is the FPS read out right on top of your toon when your hit CTRL-R to show it? It used to show at the top-middle of the screen. Now it’s smack bang right over your toon. WHY???

micro stutter everytime i leave meta/demonic,

also everytime i turn my camera lol

can probably use /ftsack find the object name for fps and use this macro to move it

You might be on to something, I haven’t been to a populated area yet but i haven’t had any stuttering since restarting. Mind you i’m in WOD content which is mega old and a commodore 64 could run that.

So I did this and based on some reddit comments i disabled “target framerate” and enabled “max foreground frame rate” to 144 and max background frame rate to 144, i turned my graphics back up high and so far no stuttering in Oribos which was the biggest offender.

Solid referral on that script thanks

This is on blizzards “known issues” post and they’re actively looking into it.
