Stutters on Fury Warrior when using “Reckless Abandon” talent

As the title says, using the Reckless Abandon talent causes a noticeable stutter when casting Rampage or Bloodbath, which corresponds to gaining or losing the associated “Reckless Abandon” buff.

I’ve noticed this stuttering immediately when switching to the new optimal Fury warrior talents after acquiring the season 3 tier set. After a little bit of trial and error I found out that the culprit is the Reckless Abandon talent. I’ve since tried disabling all addons, deleting cache/WTF folders, reinstalling the game, drivers and even Windows, but the problem remains the same. Switching back to “Anger Management” talents completely fixed the issue - I’m including a video where I show the frametime graph before (perfectly smooth line) and after changing to the new talents (spike everytime rampage/bloodbath is casted), which perfectly illustrates the issue:

Does anyone else experience this? It is most noticeable when strafing left and right or moving the camera.

HW/SW:
AMD 7800x3D
32GB of RAM
Nvidia RTX 4080
Latest Nvidia graphics drivers (ver. 546.17)
Also tested some older drivers (versions 537.58, 537.42, 528.xx)
Fresh installation of Windows 11 23H2
In the video, the game is set to the default 7/10 graphics preset
Addons have no effect on the issue

Optimizing performance is beyond the scope of this forum’s purpose. We troubleshoot crashes, disconnections, and installation issues in here. If you think it’s a bug, I recommend reporting in Bug Report.

That said, I watched your video several times, and ignoring the graph, I don’t notice much or any stutter. That could be because of Imgur, though. The visual spike is how long your GPU took to render those frames specifically, which stayed consistent at 8.4ms despite what it showed visually.

If there is indeed a stutter, it could be caused the extra rage you’re generating that appears in the UI, it could be the increase in abilities due to extra rage to spend, or a number of other things.

I see, thanks for the response and sorry, I will post it to the Bug report section.

As for the stutter, Indeed it’s not noticeable in the video, because the video has a lower framerate (30 vs original 120, and the stutter is about 30ms, which will hide perfectly within that framerate). The number next to the graph likely doesn’t refresh fast enough to show any difference, since its just one frame here and there.

But the stutter is very much there, as the graph shows. It is also most noticeable when moving camera around during combat, not so much when stationary. I’ve since switched to arms spec, because I have zero issues with it, as all other alts that I’ve tried, or even other fury talents. It’s just this one that causes issues.

I also recommend capturing a video at a higher frame rate to demonstrate the stutter and checking the documentation for the app you’re using to track frame time. Find out if it’s displaying an average, because if so, the value should increase even with just 1–2 frames causing a delay.
