Stuttering when opening windows in game etc

Specs to start off.

Processor Intel® Core™ i5-7600K CPU @ 3.80GHz, 3792 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce gtx 1060 6GB

16GBs of ram

Came back around 2 days ago and began noticing heavy FPS drops and stutters in certain situations, they aren’t big mind you, but they are starting to get very noticeable and very annoying.

While I don’t think it matters, it should be known that while I have these specs, I don’t really put my settings on high, and if anything I keep them low for raiding so when it gets laggy I generally don’t have to worry (Yes there’s a separate setting for raids and battlegrounds, I’m aware.). But on to the main point of topic.

Opening the achievements tab noticeably makes my entire game stutter. The first time I do it, the game actually freezes for about a second till it unfreezes, and is fine. The same happens upon the first time opening the Guild and Communities tab will also freeze the game.

I will also lose frames whenever characters in the game begin talking after finishing a quest, or when I enter a area and a character begins talking, while this doesn’t happen all the time, when it does I’ll lose about 2 frames, stutter a tad, and then return to my 60 frames.

I can guess the second reason might be because I’m changing instances of areas a lot, but at the same time I can’t say that for certain, because I know there’s areas where the mobs/zone don’t actually change during said quest, but still experience the problem.

Mounting also does this as well, though I’ve only seen it happen once or twice.

It should also be mentioned that I opened task manager to see how my PC is doing, and it isn’t using even half of my CPU or my GPU, same goes for my memory.

What I’ve tried to do to fix this issue in the game are these that I’ve seen suggested that might do good, but have not worked:

Reset the UI, changing cache to cacheold, all that stuff

Disabling all addons and keeping them off while doing said events.

Reinstalled the entire game.

Closed all background programs.

Repairing the game.

So, now I’m out of suggestions and I’m wondering what exactly to do, and would like to know if there are any possible fixes to this, or, if its completely normal and I should just let it go.

Hi Denorius

First check that your Windows version is up to date. We see a lot of systems where that isn’t the case. Windows doesn’t automatically install the major updates.

Type Update in the windows search box. Click on Check for Updates. The next screen that opens will be the update pane. It will likely say “You’re up to date”. Ignore that untruth then click the button below labeled - Check for Updates

Now be warned that will start updating everything. It may take some time. Once it is done continue to click the button until you truly have no updates.

Note - The 19H1 (1903) update is on a staggered release. It is possible it may not be available to your machine as yet. If that is the case we will download then install.

Update is the top download on the above Microsoft page - May 2019 update

Next - update to the most recent Nvidia graphics:

All this is assuming you have Windows 10 as the OS

One other thing comes to mind here. You mention that you have 12GB of Ram. Are those matching sticks. If you have two matching sticks use those. You would want to check the motherboard manual for the proper DIMM slots for 2 sticks. Usually it is the colored DIMM slots as opposed to the Black DIMM slots. 8GB is plenty of Ram

Terribly sorry on that regard I actually have 16GBs of RAM, and they are in the correct slots, that being said, I haven’t installed the new version of Windows yet and I’m getting to it now, hopefully this makes an improvement.

Ahh mistype - no problem. I’m out of town for a week - hard to say if I will be on forum. I will be checking all these older threads when I get back.
